wow, this is more accurate than i anticipated. interesting.
"The only difference between a 9 and 10 is makeup, clothing, lighting, or photoshop, so therefore 10’s do not exist naturally in the wild. "

Credited.

I like your avatar. It reminds me of an attorney that put a box over his client's face during a court session. The goal was to conceal his client's identity. I can't find a link to the story, but it happened and the attorney won the case.

I swear I am one of the only folks here starting school this summer. They had a set of summer classes open to 1L's and I jumped on it/. I begin law school in 2 weeks

Thanks for the links. I mean even if you did have a chance, intimidating tactics would ensue such as intense staring from across the classroom.

Not to sound douchey, but my first priority is to immediately establish alpha status in the classroom when I begin law school. My peers need to know who the boss is when the professor throws a question.
Thats funny. I plan on doing the exact opposite and just chilling out in class. I save the alpha behavior when I'm gaming women. Actually, I don't even act like an alpha jock there. I just stay chill and they flock to me.

+1

I am on my second read of Getting to Maybe and I plan to order all of the E&Es, but only read the ones for my first semester. I think that is all the prep I will be doing.

Other than that, lay on the beach in SoCal, trip to Miami, get drunk, have sex, get drunk, take up some yoga, hit the links, hiking, and get drunk.

Yeah. I graduated undergrad in 07 and had a pretty shitty GPA because I didn't take school seriously enough. I want to get back into the groove of things by doing some prep. Plus, I really want to do better than what my undergrad GPA showed to many admissions dept. i.e. in the words of one admissions dept, that "I didn't take school seriously enough."

Reading E&Es, Getting to Maybe, and as many other books of interest as possible, working at a law firm, attending American Inns of the Court and Criminal Section of the NJ State Bar panel discussions, spending as much time with the gf, traveling, and being at the beach/surfing as possible.

PLS2 self study 13 week program. Work. remodel my home and find someone to rent it. Ride out the waitlists. Look for a place near my law school.

I think you might want to try for the, "take school seriously, but sanely approach."

Going from one extreme to the other usually doesn't help matters, because you get cranky and burn out.

What are you using for your firm research? I'm assuming there's something a little more detailed that Google + yp.com?

I know you're not asking me but all firms have their lawyer bios online. I'm an 0L. I spent a few hours trawling the sites and I contacted ppl who went to my UG or who have some similarity to me and I've been emailing them. I have three networking lunches set up so far. I also went to a business networking breakfast and will follow up those contacts. I'm trying to set up some further informational interviews. I've told everyone I know about law school and a few people are putting me in touch with lawyers they know. I have a dinner set up with an ADA and a firm partner (who is a former boss's son in law).

This all happened in the last fortnight. Since you're not in law school already and looking for a job, I'd be ballsy and try to get to people now, while you're still a 'bright young thing' and before you are looking for a job. I'm shocked at how much people seem to want to help me.

I'll be setting up a sweet pad in Cambridge, spending time with my partner, drinking heavily, reading lots of literature and good nonfiction that I haven't had time for before and won't have time for again, going to the beach, and sleeping a ton. There is really no need for prep courses, and in fact, from what I've heard from very successful lawyers and law students that I know, doing gunner-type prep work actually hurts you. You either fail to really learn the material or learn it all wrong and then have to struggle to correct your thinking later.

I'll probably skim a couple of the law school books like Getting to Maybe or Law School Confidential again but really, I plan on using my free time between work and school to relax. Road trip to San Diego, maybe hit up Disneyland, lots of BBQs and video games.

Reading a ton of books for leisure, because I might not be able to again for three years.

Don't do that to your friend man. Not cool.
