Eh, not really weird. All this think has to do is come up with a reasonable formula to ballpark your score. It is bound to match up exactly with people's scores a few times.maudlinstreet wrote:According to SAT: 175

Re: SAT/LSAT Conversion Forumla
prediction = 9pts lower, but if you take just my verbal, it's within a point.
Not surprising that this works as well as it does, but still helpful. I wish I'd heard both of these methods before Sept. test (that 10 point span between the predictions captures my PT average, but it would have given me a sense of what was realistic and what I was capable of on the high end)

Totally bogus.
SAT (Verbal: 670 Math:480)
By their calculations I am at a 155.
163 in September Biatches!!

The OP's formula gave me a number that was -6 the actual. Yours gave me the correct score. Interesting....awesomerossum wrote:Sorry, I use a different formula for calculating SAT-LSAT correlation. My old tutor said that one's starting point should be the verbal score with the last zero removed and a one added to the front.
I scored an 800 on the verbal. Technically, I should've started from a 180.

I got a 1340 on the SAT, and I got a 165 on the LSATOldBlue wrote:Someone posted this on that "other" forum.
I found it interesting and thought I'd relay it. It was EXACTLY on for me.
LSAT = (SAT*/21) + 101 (m.o.e +/-5)
*old 1600 based SAT
this thing said 164.8
kind of nifty

I scored 13 points higher than it says I should have. Wish I'd studied for the SAT now.

Re: SAT/LSAT Conversion Forumla
Mine was off by 11 points (in a good way). I'm attributing this to my hatred for math, though. My SAT scores looked ridiculous 700s in Verbal and 500s in math.
No math on the LSAT!

Formula predicts 172. I scored a 167. Trouble on the Logical Games section. I guess I ought to study.

Re: SAT/LSAT Conversion Forumla
No dice for me. 1400 sat (730v/670m), 175 LSAT. Oh well. Back in 1997 a 1400 was a good enough score to get me into some good schools. If I had done better there I'm sure my 175 would do the same

SAT predicted:165
Actual:170
I didn't really put my heart into studying for the SAT though and I took it 4 times too.... my first one would put me at around 157.... those were fun times... sorta.. ... wait no, actually those were shitty times... now are the fun times.

SAT score predicted-158
Actual score- 162
wasn't too far off, but is only about as accurate as an educated guess.

Re: SAT/LSAT Conversion Forumla
predicted 164-165, actual was 168. I think I did pretty well considering my SAT score was so damn unbalanced (750M / 580V). I'm a slow reader.

Impressive improvement. What study methods/materials did you use?JCougar wrote:It predicted a 162, and I got a 161 on my initial LSAT diagnostic.
I took the SAT cold and didn't study for it at all, so I guess that makes this formula pretty accurate.
Hopefully, studying this time will get me better than a 162. I haven't scored that low on any PT since, and I've scored as high as 178. I think anything 168 and above will make me very happy, but I want to get a 170 to give me a shot at Cornell.

Re: SAT/LSAT Conversion Forumla
SAT score prediction: 165 (and I actually took a prep course for this thing back in the day)
ACT score prediction (using the table converting ACT to SAT from this thread): 171.5 (no studying)
LSAT: 172 (~3 weeks of light studying)
Dead on, if you ignore my SAT. I'm not really sure what happened there (My highest score was on the math section on that thing, something obviously went wrong).

Re: SAT/LSAT Conversion Forumla
This is a pretty shabby formula. I did zero studying for the SAT and scored a 1080. I scored a 29 on the ACT so that helped, but my cold diagnostic was 160. After three months of studying I'm hoping to be in the 172+ range. I guess it might work decently for someone who studied intently for the SAT and ACT but for someone like me who studied for neither and plans on studying hardcore for the LSAT it is pretty inaccurate.

Re: SAT/LSAT Conversion Forumla
I guess I under-performed.
SAT: 1520
LSAT Prediction (based on 730 Verbal): 173
Actual: 172
But i'm still happy. I might re-take in Feb for glory (and scholarship $).
