Following. Haven’t heard anything yet from the DOL after the continued interest email and ranking the offices. Has anyone heard from any regional offices?

Re: Honors Programs 2017-2018 (Non-DOJ)
I went through this process during the 2015/16 cycle as a recent grad (applied as a 3L). I had interviews with DOT (first over the phone and then in DC), and one long phone interview with DOL around Jan/Feb (they had me rank my preferences). L&E was my desired practice area so obviously DOL was my first choice. My entire resume screamed labor and employment law, I took 5 L&E courses during law school, and at the time of my interview with the DOL, I was interning at the EEOC. I also had lots of public sector on my resume because of a few internships in college. T30 law school, secondary journal, cum laude, was unable to get a job during 3L OCI or from mass mailing.
I didnt get an offer from either of them. I was absolutely devastated because I genuinely thought I was a lock for a DOL position.
Just wanted to share my experience. I know the wait is absolutely excruciating. Wanted to make 2 points:
1) Have realistic expectations. These positions are VERY competitive and they get tons of applications from highly qualified people. Please don't make the same mistake I did and get your hopes way up.....
2) its not the end of the world if you don't get one of these gigs, don't be discouraged, just keep pushing and do whatever you can to get substantive experience on your resume until a firm is willing to hire you. I didnt get the DOL gig, entered the vale of tears, I ended up working document review gigs for a few weeks, and 3 months later I landed a staff attorney role at a large firm where I was able to work on L&E matters. Two weeks ago, I accepted an offer from Littler. Its been a long road from being rejected by the DOL to landing at Littler, but its possible. Keep working hard and don't lose faith!

So if I never received a continued interest email from a DOL regional office, does that mean I'm SOL?

I wasn't aware that the regional offices specifically sent out continued interest emails. I thought it was just the SOL as a whole.Anonymous User wrote:So if I never received a continued interest email from a DOL regional office, does that mean I'm SOL?

Can anyone who had a qualifying interview with USACE give an idea of how the questions were? Were they substantive/legal or general/personal interview questions?

New anon. Had a DOL OCI in September, only asked to be considered for one regional office, haven't heard anything since (neither continued interest nor ding). GPA just went up - any thoughts on if/whether I should send an updated resume?

I say you should update your resume with your OCI interviewerAnonymous User wrote:New anon. Had a phone interview with a USACE district office this week. Expecting to hear back within a few weeks.

For the USACE people who have done district interviews, about how long of a wait was it between your qualifying interview and hearing from district office? I did my qualifying interview recently a day or so later I got a request to submit my location preferences (I’m assuming that means I was qualified?) and haven’t heard anything sense, not even a confirmation that my location preferences were received.

I recently contacted CFPB about my application status (did an in-person interview in DC in November, haven't heard anything since), and they confirmed that hiring for the honors program is on hold due to the hiring freeze.

Did you include your location preferences in your original application to USACE?Anonymous User wrote:For the USACE people who have done district interviews, about how long of a wait was it between your qualifying interview and hearing from district office? DOL people: I had a regional office interview in December (and before that I had just had an OCI interview, then my OCI interviewer reached out to me regarding preferences), but have not heard anything since. They told me that they'd get back to everyone in January, but with the shut down, I'm expecting that to be a little bit longer. Hope this was helpful.

Sorry, just to clarify, did you rank your preferences and THEN were reached out to for a regional interview?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
