In the immortal words of Drake, "Top 5 Top 5 Top 5 (choice)."
Really, really want Duke and hoping for a PT invite and $. Would attend over most of the T13.

Fee waiver this morning, email also mentioned an ED option. No PT invite.

Checking in. Duke is probably tied with UVA for my first choice so I was pretty bummed about not getting a PT invite. Hopefully my email request works!

How often are people successful at requesting priority track invites or fee waivers?

Checking in. 3.45/171.
How good a sign is priority track invite? I'd think I'm pretty iffy for admission

MyLsn puts you at around 50% chance - I don't know whether you count that as iffy.Jack_Kelly wrote:Checking in. 3.45/171.

Yeah, around 50% is what I meant. Just trying to read the tea leaves as much as possible.sharris2017 wrote:MyLsn puts you at around 50% chance - I don't know whether you count that as iffy.Jack_Kelly wrote:Checking in. 3.45/171.

Checking in and gonna apply, but only for scholarship negotiation purposes. The fratty reputation turns me off, same with UVA. Had enough of that in UG.

Classes only started yesterday, but FWIW Duke doesn't strike me as being overly fratty and it really seems like there are all types here, the social scene is fairly varied. More than anything, people here seem quite open, friendly, and easygoing. And, like all top schools, the students here all seem very studious and diligent.dm1683 wrote:Checking in and gonna apply, but only for scholarship negotiation purposes. Honestly, I'd guess few law schools really live up to their reputations. I'm sure Chicago's student body doesn't consist exclusively of econ nerds.

The fratty reputation is mostly undeserved. It comes from the association with the undergrad campus if anything.dm1683 wrote:Checking in and gonna apply, but only for scholarship negotiation purposes. The fratty reputation turns me off, same with UVA. Had enough of that in UG.

Re: Duke c/c 2021 Applicants (2017/18)
yeah, it's not fratty here at all. I've met a good amount of people so far and would actually say most people here are either the normal friendly/outgoing type or nerdy (or a mix). I've had zero problem making friends and hanging out with people, and this is coming from someone who wasn't very social in UG and has never even been to a frat party or anything like that.TheBlueDevil wrote:Classes only started yesterday, but FWIW Duke doesn't strike me as being overly fratty and it really seems like there are all types here, the social scene is fairly varied. Checking in as a deferring Blue Devil!
Excited for all you applicants, Duke Law seems really awesome and Durham is the best city to study in.
Let me know if you have questions about the app process, especially the scholarship application that happens later

Re: Duke c/c 2021 Applicants (2017/18)
So I got a response to my PT reconsideration that said they weren't sure if they could give me PT. They also asked me to tell them about my background and why Duke, so I sent them my resume with an abbreviated version of my why Duke essay in the email.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
