International 170/A - HELP

Post by FrenchMomo » Wed Aug 05, 2020 4:27 pm

Hello guys,

I just want to have your opinion about my situation and eventually where do you think I can land with my numbers.

My LSAT is 170 and my foreign CAS evaluation is « Average » (despite the fact that I am in the top 20% of the class - btw should I write and addendum ?)

My undergraduate degree is a law degree from Europe (acceptable by law school for JD applications).

My softs are the following : Fluent in 3 languages, I am also from a persecuted minority vastly known.

Thank you in advance and take care guys !

Not worthwhile. Law schools will get your actual transcript so an addendum wouldn't add anything. Sorry to hear about the LSAC evaluation, but on the bright side it won't make a huge difference for admissions.

You definitely have a shot at the lower half of the T14 since you're a net positive for their medians: increase the LSAT median, no effect on GPA median. HYSCCN (and maybe Penn/UVA too) don't have as much trouble finding 170s, so they're more likely to turn their noses up at the Average transcript evaluation.

Harder to say what kind of money you could expect. You probably won't get any large offers off the bat, but if you get multiple T14 admissions you'll have a strong negotiation position because of your impact on medians.

If you need a visa to live and work in the US, you should be wary of schools outside the T14 - the only reliable path to H1-B sponsorship is to get an offer from a "biglaw" firm, and it's really easy to miss the boat as an international student at a T20.
