Got the call today as well. Anyone turning down good scholarships from T13s to pay sticker at NYU?

Congrats to all who got in. Any of you mind PMing stats that aren't on profile? Sorry for pestering. Just trying to get a feel on who they're taking right now.

Re: NYU c/o 2020 -- WAIT LIST (New Poll!)
Woke up to a myriad of emails from NYU (something like 6-8). And it took me a while to go through all of them. They didn't call maybe because I was out of the country.
Please PM for Stats. I think there is enough information for schools to figure out exactly who I am.

i'd definitely consider it. depends on money/ housing... can't imagine it'd be easy to find somewhere in NYC last minutethehours wrote:sameschmem wrote:sametheembigg wrote:so who here is also willing to ride this WL out to the bitter end and relocate if they get the call a week before classes start?? Should be fine. NYC has a pretty short rent horizon as far as I know. You may have to make some sacrifices cost, size, and/or location wise.haley12 wrote:i'd definitely consider it. depends on money/ housing... can't imagine it'd be easy to find somewhere in NYC last minutethehours wrote:sameschmem wrote:sametheembigg wrote:so who here is also willing to ride this WL out to the bitter end and relocate if they get the call a week before classes start?? You can always live in dorms. From my encounters with law school housing, they said as long as you're accommodating, they will find a place for you. By accommodating, I think they mean willing to share bathrooms and kitchens with other law students.34iplaw wrote:Should be fine. NYC has a pretty short rent horizon as far as I know. Oh yeah I remember the housing people saying as much for NYU. NYU housing seems kind of overpriced for what it is.melmelcoolj wrote:You can always live in dorms. Is that the case? I thought Greenwich Village is just super expensive. I think the couples' housing seems really overpriced, but the shared private rooms are sort of okay. I've looked at some buildings without amenities and doorman, and they cost 1600-1800 for a room, too.34iplaw wrote:Oh yeah I remember the housing people saying as much for NYU. Re: NYU c/o 2020 -- WAIT LIST (New Poll!)
It is a really expensive area. IIRC, the shared private rooms are super tiny compared to what one might find elsewhere. I'd have to double check but they seemed to be fairly unappealing to me if I recall correctly.melmelcoolj wrote: Is that the case? I thought Greenwich Village is just super expensive. Re: NYU c/o 2020 -- WAIT LIST (New Poll!)
NYU housing is overpriced compared to Columbia, which heavily subsidizes housing. But compared to the surrounding area of Washington Sq, NYU housing is competitive/cheaper. That being said, the Washington Sq area is prohibitively expensive, even for tiny studios. So while it's not overpriced for the area, it will price out most people. The upside is that Washington Sq. is very easily accessed by subway from pretty much everywhere in NYC, so you don't have to limit your search to that moneybags area alone.melmelcoolj wrote:
