What to Expect When You're Expecting 2016-2017 Cycle (c/o 2020)

Post by brinicolec » Fri Dec 16, 2016 8:08 pm

Hi all! So I've seen a part one and part two for this, but thought that it'd be nice to try to keep it as updated as possible for people in this admissions cycle, as well as for next year's, especially because I noticed some of the information on the older posts is no longer accurate.

Feel free to provide info for the schools I don't have the info on. I personally applied to most T14s, but there's a few I skipped. I'm also sitting at complete or UR for most places, so insight on what happens if you're dinged vs. accepted is greatly appreciated (though I'll also search individual school threads for the info). I'm going to start the post with the T25 but feel free to comment with info on any other schools that you have knowledge of!

Note: Since some schools haven't even had their first wave of acceptances yet, I used info from the previous cycle to fill in the blanks and question marks mean I'm not sure if the information is accurate!

Thank you so much for this! The Cornell info was killing me on the last thread I saw. Glad to see some up to date info.

OMG you guys have both answered a question that has been puzzling me.

Also what is yield projection?

YP= yield protect. When schools waitlist someone with good numbers because they think they will get into a better school. They do it to pad their yield% statistic of admitted candidates that actually decide to attend.

Yeah.. I didn't mention that because I'm not sure. I don't recall my message ever being different than the one others think indicates UR.

Also its only relevant if you applied before a certain point. For example, if you applied this week, the message would not need to change because I am sure they already have the message that does not include ED date information there.

You can ask in the Q&A mod thread in the lounge. Or probably PM a mod about it to ask.

Also, have you been accepted?

Hm, so you were WL/dinged or you just haven't made a decision yet?

I'm wondering if people may go UR2 without the interview request as an indicator that they won't be accepted.

(Not saying that I believe it, just curious; if you haven't received a decision yet, don't panic! lol)
