I'm thinking it's yield, since I'm from the Midwest. I thought I wrote a fairly compelling "why Cornell" though. I've also been waitlisted at Duke, UVA, and Penn.angelfan5589 wrote:Either that or they're looking to protect their yield percentage.Sarastro wrote:Cornell's LSN is a bloodbath this year. Anybody else have an explanation for this?somedeadman wrote:I was waitlisted. Lsat is 169, gpa is 3.66-3.7, and I'm from the Midwest. Submitted in mid October. Pretty devestated to be honest.
I hear they got a new admissions dean and it looks like they're really gunning to raise their medians.

Thought A: Their admissions are a bloodbath, as evidenced by many people getting dinged that, based on LSN data from the last few cycles, should have gotten in easily.
Thought B: Looking at the general trend of people dinged and accepted, I infer they are trying to raise their medians. I have no evidence for this inference beyond that graph, nor do I have the expertise to know what I'm talking about. Just seems like something is very different.

You'll need to submit the documents requested to financial aid office. Info will be in your acceptance email. Congrats!feefeeriri wrote:In via voicemail. I should expect scholarship info in a week right?

I got in on Tuesday and heard back today about money. I got $35,000 per year in scholarships. It's good but I'm still kind of worried as Cornell is over 60k annually in tuition alone. I estimate that I would have to take out about $60,000 in loans to graduate. I don't want to go into BigLaw. I'd like to go into public service or plaintiff-side litigation. I'm worried about IBR going away w/ Trump. Would this be a risky move?

I heard back in 6 days. They may be getting slower with their responses though with more people being accepted. You should hear back soon.addie1412 wrote:I got in last Friday, submitted CSS, tax returns etc on Saturday. Should I have heard back about $ yet?

Have any international applicants submitted their Scholarship Application?
I'm not sure if there is anything else I need to submit besides the application since we don't apply to need-based shollys.

If you only apply for merit based scholarship, you just have to send in one application form. The form is included in the email.nerdylsat wrote:Have any international applicants submitted their Scholarship Application?

I was accepted last week and haven't heard anything about scholarship
do we have to apply separately or fill out some forms/app for scholarship information?
and how long after acceptance do we get the big red book in the mail?

Re: Cornell c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Only 60K in debt isn't bad at all, as long as you've estimated that right. If you only got 35K a year, and you estimate you only need to take out 60K in loans, I assume you or your family is using savings to make up the difference. I got 50K a year, and I graduated with 85K in debt. Can't say whether Cornell would be your best option without knowing your other options, but I don't think 60K in debt is risky in a vacuum. It should be manageable even on a PI salary, although it may take some time to pay off.LawTweet wrote:I got in on Tuesday and heard back today about money. I got $35,000 per year in scholarships. Yes, iirc they send you an e-mail with your estimated budget, and it just wouldn't list any scholarships.addie1412 wrote:Will they let you know if you're not getting anything, do you think?
I've been waiting for 4 years. (Sometimes they get lost in the mail. You can e-mail them and ask about it if you don't get it after 2-3 months.)uhwrestler wrote:and how long after acceptance do we get the big red book in the mail?

ok so we just fill out the scholarship form from the financial aid forms section on the website and complete the college board css profile
did you guys just email a scanned copy of the scholarship form to the email link on the form?

for those WL'd, are you planning on staying on it? there's no reason to if we're not really set on Cornell right? I'd assume by the time they pull people from the WL, you a) wouldn't get much scholly and b) would be too late to use Cornell's offer to leverage against other schools

good. I planned on staying but it's been over two weeks since I got the WL email and forgot to email them, so they should have automatically withdrew my app. just needed confirmation I didn't screw upldlestrange wrote:my thoughts exactly. Re: Cornell c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
Yeah I'm lucky I've got a bit in savings and about an equal amount in outside scholarship money. Still the 60k might be an underestimation of living expenses and doesn't take bar study loans into account. So who knows.Lavitz wrote:Only 60K in debt isn't bad at all, as long as you've estimated that right.
