If its any consolation, I know at least a couple of people who are in the fb group but plan on going elsewhere

For real, though. We're dying in the Waitlist thread.

Everything I'm seeing says that tuition and fees for next year are estimated.

UT isn't actually expecting us to deposit before we know how much we would have to pay for next year, are they?

Yes I was pleasantly surprised to see that. Looks like two separate grants award me each 1500 a year; it's not negligible but seeing something broken out to $750/semester sure isn't as pleasing as $3k/year haha

Does UTs first deposit stipulate that you have to withdraw to all other schools to which you have been admitted? I don't have the paperwork right in front of me...

I'm looking over mine and I can't find such grant listed. Additionally, my estimated cost of attendance is about $1000 more than the combination of my offered loans + partial scholarship. To find this info, I just clicked the link they emailed me, and the clicked the "Activate My Financial Award Link."

Two questions:

1. Am I looking in the right place?
2. Would it make sense for there to be that $1000 difference between the cost of attendance and the sum of my loans/scholarship? (I have no expected parental contribution either)

Same here. COA is about $1k more than my loans, and I am missing the $3k per year grant. I'm looking at the "FINANCIAL AID SHOPPING SHEET".

3K grant seems need based, would you guys not qualify for need based do you think? And the gap in COA should probably be loan fees and these should be added to your loans. That's my guess at least.

Doubt I would qualify. Just thought it was an automatic thing from what I was reading here... Carry on :)

I'm honestly not sure whether or not I would qualify. That so many people are actually reporting something makes me think that I may, but at the same time, I haven't at any other schools so far.

I went to the UT Law search bar, typed in "FANs" and clicked on the first link. Then there was a link on the page to check the Electronic Financial Aid Notification. After certifying that I wasn't related to a Regent, UT revealed that I did not have any need-based offers. Seems like that where you'd go though, if any of y'all were confused on how to get to it.

I'm the only one concerned about this? Last year UT cut their class size by like 60 kids, who is to say that after we have all committed that they don't raise tuition 10-20% and blame it on the "legislature" or something else. I find it deeply disturbing that we don't know how much money we are committing to paying if we decide to deposit.

Are you in state? I believe the grant is only guaranteed for in state students.

Small question: do I need a check to pay the seat deposit or can I use plastic? Don't have checks yet for new address because who the hell uses checks? Couldn't find any info on this in my email and I'm at work.

Wondering what some Out of staters are being asked to pay? I was pretty happy with the bump I got after matching, but I come to find it was a bump up from nothing lol. UT wants me to double the debt I'd have at a similar school and my numbers are pretty good, GPA's in the median LSAT is in the upper ranges. Worth a shot to ask for more? Do they even negotiate with you?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
