Honestly with that LSAT you weren't really a reach. Those are pretty solid numbers for NDLS. Congrats though!SNightHighlights wrote:SNightHighlights wrote:SNightHighlights wrote:Right after the September Lsat score release.sckon wrote:GPA: 3.47 , LSAT 166

Finally, what you think (totally subjective) got you into that school.
Visited and talked with admissions. Sold myself well imho.
Edit: I think we should also add what month you sent in applications.

Re: I made it into my "REACH"
LSAT: 163
GPA: 3.16
URM: N
Name of Reach School: Notre Dame Law School
Optional Essay: Y - Why ND, DKL
Applied ED on September 1 (first day)
I believe my 4 years of work experience as a patent agent in biglaw is what enabled Admissions to look beyond my numbers - I was below the LSAT median and below the 25% GPA. Thankful to have received a small scholarship as well.

Re: I made it into my "REACH"
Felt like reviving this because I think some people have some good news worth sharing!
GPA - 3.78 / LSAT - 167
Mylsn put me at a 14% for Berkeley and law school numbers gave me about 30% chance... Got in today after FR!

Re: I made it into my "REACH"
I think the reason this thread lost popularity is because almost everyone posting was just a splitter or not even a reach for the schools they got into. You're also at the medians for Berkeley so I really don't think this was a 'reach' depending on how we define it. It's a great result all the same and I hope you enjoy cali.Litt1tUp wrote:Felt like reviving this because I think some people have some good news worth sharing!

Re: I made it into my "REACH"
I would argue that splitters can be considered reachers because it's really difficult to know which schools are going to accept them.laqueredup wrote:What defines a Reach for an extreme splitter though?mudiverse wrote:I think the reason this thread lost popularity is because almost everyone posting was just a splitter or not even a reach for the schools they got into. Also, no point in being the reach police. If someone was seriously unsure about whether or not they'd be accepted (not because of paranoia, but because of stats), that's reach enough for me lol

Re: I made it into my "REACH"
I feel if you're below medians and you really wanted to go to that school, it counts as a reach. Schools want to raise or keep their medians so if you're below/far below both medians, even if you're not below their 25th percentile, it's a reach. But that's my take on it.brinicolec wrote:I would argue that splitters can be considered reachers because it's really difficult to know which schools are going to accept them.laqueredup wrote:What defines a Reach for an extreme splitter though?mudiverse wrote:I think the reason this thread lost popularity is because almost everyone posting was just a splitter or not even a reach for the schools they got into. Re: I made it into my "REACH"
Got into Berkeley yesterday - submitted late Novemberish, went under review late December, FR 1/12
GPA 3.5, LSAT 166 (for reference, that's <25th for GPA, median for LSAT)
Yes Why Berkeley essay, also submitted an LOCI this week confirming it was my top choice
I was not a splitter by any means, but very PI focused and made that very clear in my statements. Throwing some hope out there for everyone worried about their numbers game -- good luck everyone!!!

Re: I made it into my "REACH"
Reach: Emory
2.X/167
Applied: First week of December
Letter: Mid-January
LSP had me at a 15% "Deny", LSN didn't have enough information to predict
Everyone I know is more impressed with my full scholarships at TTTs; im over here wondering who tf is on Emory admissions team and what I can offer them if I decide to attend ;D

Re: I made it into my "REACH"
LSAT: 153 (I know it's bad)
GPA: 3.94
Reach school: Emory
Applied: early January
LSAC gave me about a 16% chance of getting in. Got accepted this week with a scholarship. Probably the best day of my life.

Re: I made it into my "REACH"
LSAT: 156
GPA: ~3.1 from top 15 private
Non-Hispanic URM
Reach: Tulane
Applied: late January
Even managed to get $$. I’m below both medians and my LSAT is only one point above their 25th. I visited in the fall and wrote a LOCI before a decision was made. I feel incredibly lucky.

Inverted the URM-related part, whoops. I’m a non-URM Hispanic.semispecialsnowflake wrote:LSAT: 156

Also, there was a “Why X?” optional statement and I did write it.
