Not as much as one would think! I applied to NYU, Columbia, Harvard, Cornell, Penn, Georgetown, and Northwestern and got waitlisted across the board (haven't heard back yet from Northwestern). Fortunately Cornell ended up giving me admission and $$$, so it's not totally dismal. FWIW I applied in December with my October socre (167) but had my apps held everywhere until my January score came in, so slightly on the later-ish side and if NYU's talk of averaging scores is to be taken seriously then maybe that didn't work in my favor. Still seems to be an almost unprecedentedly bad cycle, though.

Who knows? The Harvard waitlist isn't too unusual since my GPA's below their 25th, and I would assume that Cornell, Penn, and Georgetown were all YP based on the quick acceptance and money from Cornell, Penn's usual practices, and me not bothering to do an interview with Georgetown as they requested. Even Columbia could have a plausible explanation in that I bungled my interview scheduling a bit and didn't interview until around the time that all pretty much all the decisions from the c/o 2019 applicants thread had turned into waitlists, so maybe I was too late and the class was filled. No idea what could've gone wrong with NYU, though. Hoping for a more favorable waitlist season.

my lsat isn't anywhere near as high as yours-- i have a 172 with the same GPA as you. also got waitlisted at harvard, columbia, penn, and of course nyu.. maybe it's because the number of high lsat-ers spiked this cycle?

Nope, submitted late Jan, went UR2 very early Feb. Hopefully surviving the latest wait-list/rejection wave means that there's still a shot for straight up acceptance. Thinking happy thoughts!

Same here. All I wanted was for them to make a decision before I have to pay my deposit at UVA or Vandy. Unless that magically comes tomorrow, I'm SOL.
