Do we need a new OP for this thread? Wouldn't mind a poll about where everyone is living or which bar we want to routinely drown our sorrows in.

go ask for it. not sure this thread is active enough to really necessitate it, but couldn't hurt. 2000 hasn't posted anything in like a month and a half.thatlawlkid wrote:Do we need a new OP for this thread? making polls is very easy. that's the only job of this threads OP at this point. anyway, yeah, probably unnecessary. Did you get that package from them yet?thatlawlkid wrote:No way, I have no idea how to OP. Drinking out of it now. Strictly for flex purposes though, as a 12oz container just doesn't seem very useful for the amount of water I drink in a day.guybourdin wrote:making polls is very easy. that's the only job of this threads OP at this point. anyway, yeah, probably unnecessary. I sent in an additional LOR and final grades, and I argued how the money would help me with my very specific and unique (aka not DOJ/AUSA/ACLU/SPLC) public interest legal career path.guybourdin wrote:how?RedPurpleBlue wrote:Just negotiated a $5,000/yr. increase!

According to NU's website JD tuition for 2017-2018 is going to be $61,784. Seems like a steep increase, especially with Pritzker gift and the commitment to make law school more affordable

The previous tuition for that program was $59,550, so it went up by 3.75%. That's a bit higher than previous years (2.4%, 3.0%, 3.5%, 2.5%), but it's not too far off the rate increase from a couple of years ago.glockov wrote:According to NU's website JD tuition for 2017-2018 is going to be $61,784. Also, I just want to point out that looking at sticker price is generally not a good way to judge affordability. Harvard is known to be one of the most affordable, if not the most affordable, undergraduate institutions in the world, yet it has a tuition of $44,990. At face, that's in no way affordable for anyone in the middle class or below, but Harvard makes it affordable through its generous needs-based scholarships. We'll need to see what Northwestern's 25th-50th-75th ABA 509 scholarship numbers are next year before we can judge if they are making a real commitment on affordability. Also, for what it's worth, Northwestern's LRAP is pretty good, especially if you plan to switch from public interest to private practice at some point, and the Interest Freedom Plan isn't too shabby.
Just my $0.02.

Maybe the fact it broke the 60k barrier makes it seem bigger than it is, but still doubling the inflation rate.RedPurpleBlue wrote:The previous tuition for that program was $59,550, so it went up by 3.75%. Re: Northwestern Pritzker - Class of 2020
Hello to the Class of 2020!
First off, congratulations! While it can be a tough slug, the next three years of your life are also going to be some of your most memorable - and NU is a fantastic place to be.
Now shamelessly, for those who haven't found an apartment yet, I'm here to plug my own. It's a 2-3 bedroom/2 bath unit (my two other roommates and I have been living in it as a 3 bedroom for the past two years) located at 860 N Dewitt Pl. It's a 5-minute walk from school, has a coffee shop on the first floor, and is fully renovated with an in-unit washer/dryer. It also has a doorman 7 days a week (perfect for when those Amazon packages come during class) as well as a rooftop deck with a beautiful view, a great common area, and a gym. It's nearly 1600 SqF and 3945$ a month (with the first month only being 3800$).
Available for move in at the start of August. It's a great spot and an incredible value for the location to boot. I've attached a craigslist link that has some pictures and a more comprehensive list of amenities. If anyone is interested, feel free to email me at n-brown2017@nlaw.northwestern.edu.
Good luck all!
