Re: UVA Class of 2020
They are considering upping certain schollies after the deposit deadline, but not for many. The way it was put to me in-person was "the scholarship committee has gone home until then." So unless something about your app has changed, I doubt they'll negotiate right now. Although, I would wait til a day or two before the deposit deadline, because that's when they start to hustle again.Anonymous Ivy Grad wrote:I'm very interested to hear if anyone has been successful in getting UVA to reconsider and/or increase a scholarship award this year.
I tried to negotiate my scholarship and got a very nice email telling me they won't be able to increase it. It's not clear to me whether that means that UVA isn't negotiating with anyone, or whether they're just choosing not to negotiate with me (either because of the scholarship offer I showed them or because of who they need in next year's class).

Hi all,
I will likely deposit at UVA in the coming days, but I am still waiting on a few schools. I am wondering what your thoughts are about the PAV? Also, if I live at the PAV I likely would not buy a car (good or bad idea?).
Lastly, for those of you that are K-JD what do you plan on doing this summer?

Pavillion is nice and super popular among law students. It's pricier than Ivy Gardens, but nicer. I'm working this summer!!! Debating whether or not to read things to prepare, I have heard mixed advice.Anxious-Undergrad wrote:Hi all,

Re: UVA Class of 2020
Most of the guidance I've read about the Pav is that, while convenient, it is a relatively poor value, being considerably more expensive than other options close to the school. Many online reviews mention that it suffers from frequent false alarms, though I've read that the issue has been largely solved.Anxious-Undergrad wrote:Hi all,

It is decidedly newer than most of the competition, however. So if you value both proximity to the school and freshness of construction, it is certainly an option to consider. You could likely get away without a car there, since it is directly next to the Barracks Road shopping center.
I looked at the Pav initially, but ultimately chose an even nicer place for substantially less money. The trade-off being that it is a ~15 minute drive to grounds.
Good luck making the final call!

Is anyone who is still waiting on WLs still accepting the loans on UVA's SIS? Should I wait? If so, when is it too late? Thanks!

I'm committed to UVA, but the loan acceptance deadline is a question I have as well. There doesn't seem to be any guidance on the website, unfortunately. I'll email the school's financial aid office and will post the response here.ray.bee wrote:Is anyone who is still waiting on WLs still accepting the loans on UVA's SIS? Should I wait? "To insure your loans may be finalized and the loan funds disbursed to the University by the tuition payment deadline, you should accept your aid, complete the prom notes and the entrance counseling session by mid-July."
So, no immediate deadline pending.
