Yep that's them. Sadly I really can't recall when they go out.Biglaw1990 wrote:Around what month do "welcome packets" get sent out? At least that gives you some notice it's on the way.

Re: Penn Law Class of 2019
hey clearly. this might sound a little funny, but i would cite a post you made in the "what are my chances" board as having hugely impacted my decision to retake the lsat. i was a lurker at the time with a crummy lsat score. you broke it down for somebody, the difference a strong score can make -- especially w/r/t scholarship potential. i already knew i had to retake the test, but for whatever reason your post resonated on an emotional level and invigorated me to take action. maybe it was your avatar that did the trick? anyway, i'm stoked to see you're a penn student. if i wind up at penn you'll have to let me buy you a beer.

I love when this happens! Congrats on the successful retake! Now you get to reap the benefits of that effort. I hope you do end up at Penn, I've got friends across the t14 and I really feel like our quality of life is great both absolutely and by comparison. I'd do it all over again if I had the chance, even 1L.meowmers wrote:hey clearly. this might sound a little funny, but i would cite a post you made in the "what are my chances" board as having hugely impacted my decision to retake the lsat. i was a lurker at the time with a crummy lsat score. you broke it down for somebody, the difference a strong score can make -- especially w/r/t scholarship potential. i already knew i had to retake the test, but for whatever reason your post resonated on an emotional level and invigorated me to take action. maybe it was your avatar that did the trick? Has anyone received scholarship info yet? Either named or un-named.

Did anyone else get the financial aid email? It's terrifying and/or confusing to me.

Haha agreed! But it says "This determination does not include an evaluation of merit scholarships." on the letter, so all hope is not lost.... right?James.K.Polk wrote:Did anyone else get the financial aid email? It's terrifying and/or confusing to me.

the way this finaid letter is split up is totally weird; I expected to get more merit than need but it's the other way around and I'm afraid they've made a mistake or something

Just got that financial aid email and received a big fat $0. When can we expect merit aid? I know that the website says before may 1 but do we know what the precedent is?

For those asking about when merit comes out, I got merit in my letter so I don't know if that means they've already decided for all merit scholarships, or if they are coming out in waves.
Hopefully you all hear something soon!

What's considered a good amount of grant aid from Penn considering their typical levels of generosity? More than 30K? 50K?

When the word "grant" is used, is that need-based, or merit aid?JD116 wrote:What's considered a good amount of grant aid from Penn considering their typical levels of generosity? More than 30K? 50K?

I'm not sure what is good but I got <50k which was totally not expected....That is pretty much a year's worth of tuition.JD116 wrote:Biglaw1990 wrote:When the word "grant" is used, is that need-based, or merit aid?JD116 wrote:What's considered a good amount of grant aid from Penn considering their typical levels of generosity? Need-based.
I don't get how I got zero assistance at UVA and then this at Penn. Such a shocker but very very much appreciated since Penn is currently number one.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
