Re: Penn Law Class of 2019
The email with the essay questions just said that recipients had to "commit to working in public interest upon graduation." I don't think there is a minimum amount of time. I just saw an LSRJ email with the name of a Penn alum who got the Toll (I think)..I looked her up and she's at a firm now. Haha.pdevastey wrote:no butt do you know exactly what the commitment to public interest was? was it like x amount of years in PI?penn19 wrote:Has anyone heard back about the Toll Public Interest scholarship yet? I'm still waiting to hear about the Silverman-Rodin, too! I sent in my essay application last month and haven't heard anything since they confirmed they received it the same day.MouseRat wrote:Has anyone received news about the Silverman-Rodin yet?

99% sure it requires a 3 year commitment, or maybe 3 out of your first 5 years.penn19 wrote:The email with the essay questions just said that recipients had to "commit to working in public interest upon graduation." Just got an interview invite for Toll! Thank Jayzus...I'm really gonna need it considering the generous financial aid package of $0 + loans they gave me the other day...

Ah, I thought everyone had the same application deadline. Good luck then! It does seem, though, that the interview dates are all clustered around the same time and rather soon, so hopefully you should be getting an email shortly:mabes wrote:Cool, mine was a whole four weeks later than that so hopefully the invites correlatepenn19 wrote:Yeah, the invite was via email. March 30th, March 31st, April 1st, April 2nd, April 8th and April 10th.

Anyone know if they'll send toll dings like they did for RTK?

Just got one (a ding). No surprise, have no real PI interest, was lured by the scholarship. Likely the end of the road for me and Penn.mabes wrote:Anyone know if they'll send toll dings like they did for RTK?

They do send Toll dings
In the last week my communication from Penn has consisted of emails bearing news of: $0 in need based aid, not being selected for the Levy, and not being selected as a Toll finalist

Did they rule you out for merit based too? I feel like the Levy finalists who aren't selected should at least be in the running for a decent merit scholarship.EnderWiggin wrote:They do send Toll dings

Negative, they tell us "In addition, you may be eligible for other scholarships, and we encourage you to remain in contact with the Scholarship Committee..."jtg21 wrote:Did they rule you out for merit based too? "In addition, our Committee is also considering you for other prestigious scholarships available at Penn Law."
That line from the Levy alternate email made me think the Toll was a good possibility. At this point I'm just hoping they don't rescind my acceptance and send me a bill for all their time spent on saying "nope" to my requests for $$ lol

Re: Penn Law Class of 2019
Got it -- well good luck! I saw some of the Wilson "alternates" get more in combined need/merit than I did for the Wilson, so I'm sending good vibes your way for a substantial merit one! Same to you James Polk!EnderWiggin wrote:"In addition, our Committee is also considering you for other prestigious scholarships available at Penn Law."

Haha I now realize that was unclear - I submitted my essay Feb 15, and got the acceptance email March 10.ih8makingscreennames wrote:Heard back like you got it or like you have to interview for it?yschaf wrote:Just heard back about Silverman-Rodin a few minutes ago, via email!
