Process to move to Texas or NYC

Post by FutureAmerican » Wed Jan 31, 2024 2:01 am

Hey,

Due to my situation all my schooling will be paid but only if I stay in Canada. I got accepted into a few good schools like UAlberta/UBC. But I did not get into UToronto or Osgoode.

What is the process to get to NYC. I have read for about 50 hours and feel somewhat knowledgeable on the subject.

But will I essentially just do big law in Canada until the market is hot in the USA and then apply for jobs? How can I make myself attractive to potential USA recruiters?

How could I build connections to someone in the USA that could help me down the line, I am the first generation in my family to go to college so I have 0 connections.

I can’t justify going to Fordham or a higher T14 and being out 250-300k.

I am all ears on how I can improve my chances of getting into a firm in the USA 3.5 years from now when I finish school.
