When should I buy bar review to minimize cost
Title says it all. Is it cheaper to buy earlier or later? A bunch of people seem to be committing to bar courses already, but I haven't really been paying attention. My firm gives me a set stipend instead of a direct reimbursement, so I would like to get it done as cheaply as possible.

Hey!
Barbri rep here. There is no incentive to buying from Barbri (at least) later. Our prices will continue to go up throughout the academic year.

I waited till the very end - and purchased my bar review for much, much less than fellow classmates. What are the risks? You might have to pay more as the previous poster stated that prices only go up. But unless the course fills up (it won't), even if they sell their package to you 2 days before it starts, there is no real loss to them. I purchased mine at about 25% the cost. They know you can shop around. My feeling is that they are preying on the anxieties of law students who need to have that security. While it may be a gamble, i'd say wait - it worked for me.

Call/email some bar firms. Say you're shopping around for a package for February bar. See what their best price is.
Then ask your rep to lock you in to that offer.

Until I called my rep's supervisor after finals in May and they cut the price to $2,000 even. (which was $500 less than the "lock it in two years early" deal.sprinx wrote:Hey!

Exactly. If they were smart, they would cap enrollment to artificially increase demand. But even a day before class starts, as long as you pay, say $50, above cost of books and supplies there is zero cost for them to enroll you. Given the availability of various bar prep providers, it seems like if you are willing to negotiate, you can get a bargain.

Got 25% off from barmax for their new year promo. I think I bought it after Christmas last year. Paid only $750 for the entire review course. Still waiting for my bar results though. Will highly recommend barmax if I pass.

I waited the week before and I got barbri for 2k. Firm paid but I wanted to pay lower taxes on that income later.
