Transfer from a Part Time Program
I've looked at several of the T14 school's transfer requirements, specifically Columbia/NYU/Georgetown, and their credit requirements are pretty clear. My question is, as a part-time student at a T2 school, I wouldn't meet the 28 credit minimum until after summer school of the preceding 1L year.
Does anyone know if those schools restrict transfers from part-time students? Or if attempting to transfer during my 2nd year as a part-time student is not allowed?
Thanks for the help.

Assuming you're transferring to full-time--Georgetown accepts part-time students with less than 28 credits after 1L summer.

Thanks for the reply....Is it possible to transfer after one's second year so long the credit limit has not been reached yet?

You'll have to double-check but based on the info from the Georgetown website, it looks like you can do that via spring admission (transfer in the middle of 2E).tizza58 wrote:Thanks for the reply....Is it possible to transfer after one's second year so long the credit limit has not been reached yet?

Thanks for the help. Do you know if in general law schools view part-time students negatively as opposed to full-time students when applying for a transfer?chicharon wrote:You'll have to double-check but based on the info from the Georgetown website, it looks like you can do that via spring admission (transfer in the middle of 2E).tizza58 wrote:Thanks for the reply....Is it possible to transfer after one's second year so long the credit limit has not been reached yet?
I am working full time along with going to school but upon transferring I am totally fine with going full-time.

Not that I know of. The requirements depend on each school, and usually you transfer after your 1E year.

Why are you asking about transferring? You aren't even a 1L.

Yes, OP, the transfers forum is restricted to current students who already have one semester of grades, so I'm moving this to Ask a Law Student/Grad.
