Yes. And be warned: the slots go like THAT. If you log in at 12:03, the firm you want could be full. I had TWO disappear after I clicked in. If it looks like, after you clicked in, it wont let you take it, GIVE UP and move quickly. I missed on Gibson and ended up with Paul Hastings because I took too long trying to get Gibson, then tried Skadden. It was dumb.newbienew wrote:

Is the process really obvious once you log in? The instructions in the email aren't exactly the most informative things ever.Arbiter213 wrote:I had TWO disappear after I clicked in. Re: Cornell 1L taking questions
Can anyone provide advice on how to deal with DC firms in interviews if you are really interested in working there and fall within their callback range, but lack significant/any ties to the area?
Is it not enough to say you love 'murica?

You should look into the differences- there are usually pretty substantial differences in the practice areas and work at those offices. I know, for instance, that almost all of Cleary's Antitrust division is in DC (and Brussels, but I digress).oldad wrote:Can anyone provide advice on how to deal with DC firms in interviews if you are really interested in working there and fall within their callback range, but lack significant/any ties to the area?

This scares the shit out of me. What if my number one becomes available later?Beginning on a date TBD, students may claim ONE open slot per day of the August Job Fair. As noted above, open slots with different employers will become available on a rolling (and unpredictable) basis. So, be a bit selective. Understand that if you select an open slot, you cannot cancel it if another open slot that you would prefer becomes available

You'll hopefully get it through directly mailing them!MischiefMayhemSoap wrote:This scares the shit out of me. Yes to both questions.aldiddy wrote:Hi all,
I will be applying to Cornell this coming cycle. Don't know if this is still a Cornell Q/A thread but I was wondering if anyone is able to address the following...
Can someone at median w/ a Cornell JD reasonably expect to get biglaw in TX(w/ ties) or other non-NYC markets w/o ties?
Is there any advantage to having IP credentials (EE,patent bar) for OCI?
Thanks
Adding:
Actually non-NYC markets w/o ties would be difficult. Sorry.

There are OCI firms that require tech backgrounds, so yes.

Not to mention the Loyola IP Job fair... I believe the phrase is "IP Secure"morally0bese wrote:There are OCI firms that require tech backgrounds, so yes.

Does anyone recall if the following firms had open interview slots (NY only): sidleyaustin, paul hastings, skadden, and sullivan cromwell? I missed them all so just curious to know.

I know Skadden and Sullivan did. Not sure about the other two since I already had them through the lottery.Schang1 wrote:Does anyone recall if the following firms had open interview slots (NY only): sidleyaustin, paul hastings, skadden, and sullivan cromwell? Sidley Austin from what I remember did not have spots. The rest did.Schang1 wrote:Does anyone recall if the following firms had open interview slots (NY only): sidleyaustin, paul hastings, skadden, and sullivan cromwell? I missed them all so just curious to know.

What about Freshfields/Milbank/Kaye on Day 3?MischiefMayhemSoap wrote:Sidley Austin from what I remember did not have spots. Kaye definitely did not. Freshfields I can't remember, but I doubt it based on popularity alone (if it was, it conflicted with my schedule). Can't remember for Milbank.gonewiththewind wrote:What about Freshfields/Milbank/Kaye on Day 3?MischiefMayhemSoap wrote:Sidley Austin from what I remember did not have spots. For the person who asked how to direct mail but then deleted their post, the letters go like this:
Hello Skadden Recruiting,
I am a huge gunner and bid your firm, but I'm SUCH a huge gunner that I was hedging so I bid them at 17 so you'd get my resume. As a result, even though I REALLY REALLY want to be an intense corporate raider at Skadden, I did not get an interview because the lottery is a socialistic absurdity meant to keep the ubermensch from their Randian just deserts. If you have time on the day of <day Skadden is coming to AJF> to fit me in, I would love a chance to meet some of your ruggedly handsome and/or blindingly gorgeous partners for an intimate 1-on-1 screening interview, or alternatively, to come to your offices for one.
Xoxoxo,
Arbiter

Definitely going to keep the "ruggedly handsome/blindingly gorgeous partners for an intimate screening interview" line. (emphasis added). Not so sure about the rest though.Arbiter213 wrote:For the person who asked how to direct mail but then deleted their post, the letters go like this:
