Re: 0L's, what are you doing the summer before law school?
I'm probably over-preparing. I'm reading:
-Acing Your First Year of Law School (already read it, it's pretty good)
-Law 101: Everything You Need to Know About American Law. Written for the layperson, I don't think it will prepare me for law school but at least it will give me a basic understanding of the first year courses. (just started it)
-Thinking Like a Lawyer: A New Introduction to Legal Reasoning
-Getting To Maybe: How to Excel on Law School Exams
-Examples & Explanations: Civil Procedure, Seventh Edition
-The Law of Torts: Examples & Explanations, 4th Edition
-I'm also going to do LEEWS
I'm going to have to wait to find out what other class I'll take in my first semester before I know the third E&E book to read. I'm also not reading them to memorize them because I know my classes won't go over 100% of the material. Plus, from what the first book on my list said, I need to worry more about how holdings can affect future cases with similar facts rather than substantive stuff (although substantive info is still very important).
Other than the reading I'm just binge watching shows, playing video games, and strength training.

1. Finish getting my scuba certification
2. Get in the best shape of my life
3. Go to the beach as much as possible
4. Improve my third language
5. Invent a new pastry
6. Write at least something of that novel I was talking about
Ambitious? Yes, but nothing wrong with a challenge.

I'm reading G2M as well when I have time. Also, want to do EEs- but don't know how feasible (or even useful) this will be.
Who here is reading (or planning to read) the EEs?
ETA: Obviously besides you ColdToes. I don't count you. You're crazy.

I may reapply, but for now:
1. Work
2. Make a final push where I currently live with my non-profit (though I plan to take it wherever I may go)
3. Play with my cats until they're tired of me
4. Work out (boxing, lifting, and hopefully some running---I really hate it but it's great cardio)
5. Read GTM, but that's it for the gunner stuff
6. Beat each Zelda WII game again (new one coming out soon too!)

Meh...working until one week before classes start. Wish I could bail earlier but I can't make it happen. Hopefully I can keep myself semi-motivated through the end because I work at a law firm and it would be better if I didn't burn all bridges because I mentally checked out months before I left.

Re: 0L's, what are you doing the summer before law school?
I'll be working at a summer camp as the director of the horseback riding program.
Bi-weekly paycheck but no living expenses? I'll take it. Gotta save up that rent money.
But really, it'll be a fun job for the summer before law school and a great opportunity to save up some money... and it'll be good practice for my BF and I transitioning into long-distance, until he leaves for basic.

Working until August, then moving in with my SO. Nothing exciting, unfortunately. Trying to convince him come with me to Disneyworld before school starts.

Re: 0L's, what are you doing the summer before law school?
I've seen some people on forums say it's helpful to read E&Es, but some say it's pointless. I think the main argument that it's pointless is that professors won't go over the entire book and that different professors teaching the same course will go over different parts of the casebook. The main reason I'm reading them is because I graduated in December so I have a ton of free time to blow. On a different note, from what I've heard G2M is the most productive thing you can read. Also, while I haven't read Thinking Like a Lawyer: A New Introduction to Legal Reasoning yet, from what I've heard the book should prepare me for the Socratic teaching method.Captain Rodeo wrote:I'm reading G2M as well when I have time. Trip to Europe or to an all-inclusive resort in the Caribbean. Or both if I wanna blow all my money.

Re: 0L's, what are you doing the summer before law school?
The creators are going to show footage of the game and talk a bit about it at E3 in June, and that's when the release date gets announced. I'm thinking it's around December.Gary wrote:I already started on this haha good plan! But I don't know where you heard news about the new one?drawstring wrote:I may reapply, but for now:
