Does anyone have any insight on Judge Jackson-Akiwumi’s hiring practices? Has she hired for 2024 or 2025?

Heard of someone being hired for 2025-26, but I don’t know if that means Jackson-Akiwumi is full for that term and all the terms before then. I would be surprised if she’s fully hired so far out, but it’s possible I guess.

Does anyone have any info on the judges in the Southern District of Indiana? Specifically, Indianapolis.

They are all great. Certainly no one I would advise you against applying to. Do you have a question about anyone in particular?

Thumbs up on both. Both more on the conservative side, but very good judges. Well-respected, good bosses.

I know she's currently interviewing for externships, but I haven't heard anything about interviews for clerkships.

This is a total shot in the dark because she’s brand new, but do you know anything about Magistrate Judge Klump, including how she is as a boss?

Any word on Judge Jenkins? Either since she started or as a boss at the USAO/Cooley?

Super sharp. Look up her resume—crazy stuff. Very funny too in brief interactions; seems personable. Don’t have a ton of knowledge for you but have heard nothing bad

Wonderful to hear. She looks like she is a contender for an Article III seat in the future based on her resume alone.

any knowledge on how the new Biden appointees (Jackson-Akiwumi, Lee, Pryor) are as bosses?

also who do we think will fill Kanne's seat?
Also interested in hearing about people’s experiences with the new Biden appointees
I did not work directly with Jude Pryor, but I had a lot of interactions with her and observed court during my judicial internship with the SDIN. I also talked to her law clerk, who had nothing but nice things to say about Jude Pryor. She does keep her clerks busy though.
Yeah didn’t her OSCAR posting say clerks should be willing to work long hours or something? Are there judges who explicitly say that and end up being laid-back/easy to work with?

Also NDIN Magistrate Judge Joshua Kolar was nominated to fill the Kanne seat this week - anybody have intel on what he’s like?
Just saw Kolar posted 2024-25 openings on OSCAR but the application is already closed. Must have been quite a short window given that he was only confirmed a month ago. Wish I saw earlier.

perhaps a dumb question, but by "this term", i assume you mean for clerkships starting fall 2024?

Yeah, I saw Kolar just changed his status on OSCAR to "no longer hiring," so I'm curious whether that means he has all the apps he wants or whether he's full up.
