I'll get around to making a group sometime this week. Doesn't seem like there are many people lurking in this USC thread though

Has anybody negotiated scholarships with USC? I sent an email two weeks ago to Dean Reid and the FinAid office and I still have no reply from them.

I actually talked to someone in the Admissions Office yesterday because I had several questions. She stated that Dean Reid has been traveling and she will return today (4/4). She may not have been checking her email or responding like she usually does. I would also suggest sending Mary Bingham an email to negotiate. Her email address is under the Admitted Students Portal.

I sent Mary Bingham an e-mail two weeks ago and haven't heard a word since. I don't know if contacting them again about it would look too pushy or not.

USC officially rejected my aid appeal letter. BUT I'm putting down my deposit tomorrow...being a Trojan has a price $$$! Still excited. Now for the housing hunt.

I know some people were talking about making a Facebook group earlier, but did that ever happen? I feel like it might be there and I'm just missing it...if not I can make one.

Is anyone going to the diversity reception next Thursday from 5:30-7:30? I am debating whether I can make it happen or not. I am leaving for Coachella that night and so I'm missing Admit Day...I went on a tour last week...

Hey all! I'm in too! I don't have a facebook account yet (I'm waiting to get my USC email address) but I was thinking to start a email thread or something that is not so public like this forum...
I'm planning to live at Orsini Apartments and I know some others are thinking about it... it'd be awesome if a lot of our class lived there together. Terrace Housing just felt too undergrad-like and I want to come back to a place where I can relax and enjoy! There is public transport from there to campus as well.
In any case, it'd be fun to keep in touch before we get to campus so if you PM me, I'd love to get to know you!

I just got in contact with the Orsini Apartments and I think they are willing to negotiate. If a few of us approach them together, we might be able to use that as a solid bargaining chip and get ourselves a savings of $150-200 per month. Let me know if you are interested and I can help coordinate this effort! I know every dollar counts so let's see what we can do...

I'm down with starting an email thread for people that have decided on attending SC..

I was wondering how you guys felt about the safety at Orsini Apartments? I'm not familiar with the area at all, but yelp seems to indicate that it's pretty unsafe -- any truth to those comments?

I felt super safe when I was there. There is a garage for cars and it is pretty hard for people to get in without a key! I really enjoyed it :D

Also, I feel as if you have to be smart about the things you do, but that is in any big city.

I'll be out in the Los Feliz area right by the metro! I just am not a huge fan of the area around USC.

I didn't even think about negotiating rents. What a great idea. Is anyone interested in living in Culver City near the new metro line? I guess I just want to be on the Westside, avoid driving, and avoid paying for a parking pass...

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
