My status checker says my welcome packet was mailed today!! Can I expect any $? I think it was too quick to receive money because I submitted my scholarship app exactly a week ago.

Nope, you'll receive a letter with your scholarship information later. Keep an eye on your status checker, it'll let you know when your scholarship decision is mailed.gatorlaw wrote:My status checker says my welcome packet was mailed today!! Can I expect any $? But my acceptance e-mail said they'd be sent together, or maybe I erroneously assumed that.Modus Ponens wrote:Nope, you'll receive a letter with your scholarship information later. Here's what it said:
"You will be officially admitted to Duke Law School when you complete the next step of our admission process – applying for financial aid and scholarship assistance. The Financial Aid Office will send you the scholarship application form and instructions via email. Since you may qualify for a Duke Law scholarship, I encourage you to apply. If you apply, you will receive your official admission letter and a decision on your scholarship application soon after the Committee completes the scholarship review.
If you do not plan to apply for scholarship assistance but wish to consider an offer of admission from Duke, please inform our office so that we can officially admit you now."

It's just a form to apply for a scholarship. If you want to only apply for merit scholarships, you can submit it right away. If you want to be considered for need based aid as well, you'll have to fill out Need Access.

No I know, I already submitted the form because they e-mailed it to me.bobbyh1919 wrote:gatorlaw wrote:But my acceptance e-mail said they'd be sent together, or maybe I erroneously assumed that.Modus Ponens wrote:Nope, you'll receive a letter with your scholarship information later. Did anyone receive confirmation that their scholarship app was received (by email)?

I got my info (award, etc.) last week, but I'd be a summer start. Anyone else in that camp?ringo wrote:Did anyone receive confirmation that their scholarship app was received (by email)?
Also, are people going to ASW? I'd love to hear people's reflections on ASW during/after since I'm not able to go.

I know this may be a little early for some of you, but I will be trying to sublet my apartment and sell my furniture this summer. My apartment is a quiet 1-bedroom on the top floor in Pinnacle Ridge, where many law students live. The apartment is available May 1 - July 31, and the lease can be renewed for next year. I'd be willing to give you a significant discount, so this is a great way for you to save some extra money on the first part of your lease.
The furniture includes a couch, table and chairs, bed, dresser, organizer, bookshelf, coffee table and end tables. If you want to check out the apartment or furniture at ASW this weekend, let me know. I'd be happy to e-mail pictures as well.

Bumping for two reasons:
1) Yay ASD on Friday!
2) How do we feel about (appropriate-length) shorts considering it seems the temp will be hovering around 80F...?

Re: Duke Class of 2015
I'm not wearing pants. I just went to the Michigan ASW and though it wasn't quite as hot, it was kinda humid. After you cram tons of people into a room, the temperature tends to shoot up, too. I wore shorts or a dress every day and will probably do the same for Duke. The confirmation e-mail said most people dress casually and to be comfortable, I'm just going to make sure I'm not sloppy during the faculty reception.

Re: Duke Class of 2015
I visited Duke recently and found it to be completely awesome. I didn't want to like it, but was sweet. I could do without the undergrad campus, but luckily the law school is off to the side. The law building is way bigger than it looks in all the pictures. It's all modern but still comfortable (which I think is quite the feat.
It went from last place in T14 for me to easily in the top 3.

Hi guys, hope you enjoy the ASD tomorrow! If any of you have any questions, let me know. I'm done with DBA now, so it is no longer my job to talk to you, but I am happy to do it anyway.

Re: Duke Class of 2015
Although it was never my job to talk to you, I can probably be convinced to do so given that it is far more exciting than my property reading. Future interests = horribly boring. Are you sure you want to do this to yourself? It is not too late to join the circus.Bosque wrote:Hi guys, hope you enjoy the ASD tomorrow! If any of you have any questions, let me know. Also, I have it on good authority (me) that one of the rare 1brs in the cheapest group at Pinnacle is opening up on June 1st. If there is a summer starter interested in living in Pinnacle, let me know and I will try to hook you up. Fair warning, I actually don’t recommend living in Pinnacle, and my apartment is weird. For example, I have no drawers in my kitchen. That said, if you want to save money and you don’t mind storing your silverware in your pantry, my place will be available.
On a related note, Pinnacle will claim that they only offer 12 month leases. This is a lie. They will offer 10 month leases if you insist upon one.

Hey! Congrats on your acceptances!
My roommate and I are planning on subletting this summer, so PM if interested.
And -so I don't feel like a spammer- I'm a Duke 1L joint-degree, so you can send me any questions you have, too

Sent my seat deposit in last Friday! Moving to NC in May prior to summer start. Does anyone know what classes will be taught for the summer session? Is there any selection or does the school just pick two?

And in general, you don't get to select classes until year 2, you take all your classes with your section. Except I think the summer starters get to pick one in the spring. Not sure, was not a summer starter.Jacky D. wrote:Contracts and Civil Procedure.sach1282 wrote:Sent my seat deposit in last Friday! Moving to NC in May prior to summer start. This is not just a Duke thing, most Law Schools are like that.

Admitted off the waitlist last week and faxed my financial/scholarship application today. Duke's scholarship offer will be the last determining factor in my law school decision.

Re: Duke Class of 2015
There is a Duke Law Admitted Students - Class of 2015 facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/groups/310062655703441/) Current students on there have been pretty helpful in answering housing questions.sach1282 wrote:Do we have a facebook page set up for the class yet?
