After getting the ding from Berkeley this morning... looks like I may be heading to Ithaca. Anyone going to the April 8 ASW? Where are you staying?

Caught the PM. Good to see some Kick-You-in-the-Teeth electric guitar coming to Ithaca.

Unrelated - holy cow, myspace has become a complete propaganda/ad fest.

Kind of effeminate alt rock (Brand New, Franz Ferdinandish) - not necessarily by choice, it just fits my voice/playing style best I think.

Hey everyone! I'm going to the March 11 ASW. Anyone else? Also - props for starting this thread! I don't think very many admits are posting in the waiting thread anymore.

Pretty sure my wife and I are going then!

Question: Is anyone else confused about the details of that weekend? Particularly, I got an e-mail mentioning those weekends, but the subject said something like "ASW/NYC event". When I looked on the page, it said nothing about NYC. Also, where are you guys flying in to? How are you getting there?

So are we the only ones that are more or less set on Cornell?

Pretty sure I'm going to Cornell, barring a lot of money from BU...or no money from Cornell. I will be at the April 8th Admit Day/Diversity Weekend.

Leave it to Cornell not to meet their self-stated end of February money comment.

I'm pretty set on Cornell...I think. BU is offering a ton of money and I'm not sure I feel comfortable paying sticker anywhere...

Either way, I'll be there for the diversity weekend. I think I read somewhere that the students who host the diversity events also volunteer for housing, so I'm banking on that.

I'm between BU/BC and Cornell...BC has given me $75,000 over three years---still waiting on BU. I just need Cornell to lock this up for me so I don't even have a choice!

How much would it take to 'lock this up'?

So...looking at the ole' tuition page. Cornell is now over 50,000/yr. Pretty sure that makes it the most expensive law school in the U.S. (possibly the world?).

Can anyone confirm?

*I find this suitably funny - growing up I would always pick the most expensive menu item when going out to eat, not because it was most expensive, it just sounded the best. It gained me quite a reputation. Here we go again...

Berkley for out of staters tuition is still higher than Cornell. Cost of tuition for 2010-2011 was $52,244.50.

However, tuition is not the only thing to look at. Be sure to compare the school's expected Cost of Living. Columbia, Chicago, Penn, NYU, Harvard, GULC and other city schools will have higher COLs than schools like Cornell, Duke, or UVA which are fairly isolated. (Ithaca is Dirt Cheap if you're not living 5 minutes from campus).

Also, look at what is required from the school outside of tuition. For example, NY state requires that students have health insurance provided by the school if the student doesn't have it. That is calculated into Cornell's COL, but thanks to Obamacare that might not affect you until your 2L or 3L year.

$80,000-90,000 will lock it up in the end---I want to have no reason to have to stay in Boston. If they match, I feel I may outweigh proximity to home/city/girlfriend/and preferred market over rank and prestige and employment outcomes.

I'd also like to add that being the most expensive law school doesn't mean much when you realize that its only by a grand or two. I used to say the same thing about GW being the most expensive undegrad, only to realize that NYU trailed them by a few hundred bucks.

Bottom line: Law school will cost you regardless of where you go. Don't get hung up on titles.

Hi incoming 1Ls!!! I know this is early, but finding an apartment in Ithaca can be kind of a hassle. Last year when I visited for ASW, I fell in love with a one bedroom apartment, but it was already taken. I signed the lease in September, but I'm actually going to live with other people now. This apartment is literally the best one in Ithaca. It's the closest you can get to the law school for a very reasonable price. Some of the 1 bedrooms in collegetown run over $2,000 so this one is really a steal.

I am signing over my lease and would love someone to take it over asap.
Oak avenue is the street CTB is on, the place where everyone eats. I literally eat/get coffee there everyday.
The apartment is beautiful, fully furnished, full kitchen, and wall to wall carpeting.
Free access to the Novar-Mackesey gym!

Move in date: 8/16/11
Move out date: 8/6/12
Rent: $945

Landlord pays: water, sewer, lawn care

Look at the url below to see a picture of the house:

you can email me at bks65@cornell.edu if you're interested or have questions! And, congrats on Cornell!

I was actually torn between BU and Cornell for a while (BU is offering me 105k), do you guys think giving up about 90% tuition at BU is worth the T14 label?

I'm attending the April 8th date, have you guys contacted one of the diversity orgs on campus? I heard you can stay with them if you ask.

I have the exact same decision to make and it's all contingent on how much Cornell offers...I really don't know if paying sticker there is the safest bet (I am pretty debt averse though).

I've heard the same in regards to staying with members of these diversity orgs and apparently more info will we released in the following weeks. So hold on tight and see you on the 8th!
