I am almost sure I will be there in the fall. I need to visit a few schools just to make sure, but it is going to be hard to turn down their offer.

I'm 80% sure I'll be there...as long as the ASW on April 1 doesn't reeeeeally suck (I've never visited campus before).

Re: SMU 2014
Are there any other PT people out there who won't have a job or family when we start? I bombed the LSAT but still got in and had to thank God I was given a chance at a T1 school like SMU.
Hah, I guess I am more of a SMU 2015. Can I transfer to FT after 1L? If so, how?

Re: SMU 2014
Hey sbelt! I've also been admitted to the PT program. Still trying to make the final decision, but if I attend, I wouldn't work for the first semester. After that I would start the process of finding something, and would certainly want to be working for 2E year. I get the feeling that attending part time can be a great opportunity, but you need to take advantage of the chance to gain legal experience. That's the one edge we would have over full time students. Still, working and studying seems very challenging, so that's why I'm yet to decide. Other than that, I love SMU!sbelt83 wrote:Are there any other PT people out there who won't have a job or family when we start? I am also going part time but unemployed. (Just sent in the full $400 yesterday) I figure law school in Dallas will be different enough from engineering in Cleveland that I could use the time.

Re: SMU 2014
I like the way you think. I never thought of PT as an advantage over the FT people because I felt I got in as a "less-than" applicant. It will be nice to be able to look for a job after the first semester, and who knows, it could be with a firm that will keep you on after you are done. Thanks.Justathought wrote:Hey sbelt! Re: SMU 2014
I think so. I visited both this week. Sat in on some classes and talked to students and faculty. SMU is cheaper, located in the city I wanna work in where my wife can get a job much easier, and I enjoy the atmosphere of it much better. Overall, I know I'm totally going against the conventional wisdom, but I'm pretty sure I'll be a Pony in the Fallebo wrote:You're sticking with SMU over Texas?Burgstaller04 wrote:Pretty sure I'm gonna be in the FT program next year. I've heard (almost) nothing but amazing things about the campus, so I guess part of my decision is more based on the hope that the class of 2014 aren't major D-Bags.
Also have you guys seen/heard about their fitness center? I'll probably be commuting, but still spending 12+ hours a day on campus between that and the library.

I was there Wednesday. You have to have an ID card to see the whole thing, but the parts I could see from the lobby, the parts of it that are outside, and the pictures I've seen online look amazing.smithc2011 wrote:Also have you guys seen/heard about their fitness center? +1. It's incredible. One of the best you'll find at any university, anywhere, period. They just finished it a few years agoBurgstaller04 wrote:I was there Wednesday. I am PT and don't have a family or a job! I think I am going to try to get a job though.. just PT to start out with the first year. From what I understand, you can transfer to FT after 1L.. but it has it's disadvantages. I don't feel like typing them all out here.. but you can PM me and I can send you the explanation that someone else sent me.sbelt83 wrote:Are there any other PT people out there who won't have a job or family when we start? The fitness center is supposed to be really nice.. I walked by it and it has a big pool lol. But I didn't go inside because I was kind of rushed.smithc2011 wrote:+1swilson215 wrote:I'm 80% sure I'll be there...as long as the ASW on April 1 doesn't reeeeeally suck (I've never visited campus before).

I was at the evening dinner for the PT students. Was a nice event, but they did not go out of the way to try to convince people to join SMU. If you are here, you know about us; we are here to answer any questions and show you around.sceva31st wrote:sbelt83 I was accepted in the PT program and wont have a job or family either. Couple of interesting comments:
>> UT poaches SMU admitted students as late as August. So there are late withdrawals and no shows at orientation.
>> SMU (like other schools) offers admissions as late as August.
>> SMU is watching anxiously the status of UNT law school (public) in downtown Dallas.

We could pull a match.com and bring a single red rose with each of us. No? All right, how about putting a star on our name tag or something equally as unobtrusive?Burgstaller04 wrote:Who all is gonna be at ASW on the 1st and how are we going to identify each other?
Although if I practiced really hard I'm willing to bet I could get that handshake down.
