As a current BYU student let me say that the question at the top of the post is very arrogant. BYU is not top 20 and likely never will be. It is an extremely Cutthroat school, (which is why I won't even apply) but it is not top 20.

If you would read the question, it doesn't ask if BYUIS top 20, it asks if its admissions are as competitive as top 20. Take a look at LSAT and GPA, and the admissions criteria is pretty close. But you're right that it will probably never be top 20 in the USNews rankings. We're content with top 50 :)

Also, I don't think you know what Cutthroat means. There are some real "gunners" trying to get in the top 10 or so, but I have yet to meet any current 1L that is "cutthroat." Everyone is nice and will help out the guy next to him despite the knowledge that they'll be "competing" with each other for grades.
