Spring Transfers
Anyone attempting to or know anything about doing a spring transfer? The schools I have found that accept springs are GULC, GW, and UT. Have you all found others?

Re: Spring Transfers
As a 1L you mean?
Preface: I don't actually know much about the Spring admissions process at theses schools. But I can't imagine chances of getting into these schools is any better than applying as a 0L. A lot (most?) schools don't give out fall grades until the 2nd semester starts (or is really close to starting), so the adcomms would need to go off of pre-law school data (LSAT, GPA, PS, etc.). Unless something dramatically changed between when you applied originally and now, I don't think you would get in.
Also, I would focus on grades instead of spending time doing the application, rewriting personal statements, etc. If you get the 4.0 after your first semester, you could get into GULC EA based off of that. Moreover, mediocre (or even just non-top) 1st semester grades will torpedo your transfer chances at any T14/T25 school at the end of 1L.
Basically, get the 4.0 during fall and spring semester, apply early (like, first day the app is available), and enjoy your early/mid July acceptance to your T14 of choice.
Edit: I realized this post doesn't answer your question about what other schools do Spring transfer, but just wanted to throw some friendly advice out there. I know how anxious people can be to transfer ASAP when they didn't get into a top school, and I think it's important to put that aside during your 1st semester/1st year and just focus on killing the curve.

Re: Spring Transfers
You're conflating spring transfer for early action...go re-read the admissions process. They make 2L transfer decisions based on just 1st semester grades...they certainly do not welcome you to their campus as a 1L.

Re: Spring Transfers
chicago has one, as well, but i'm pretty sure it's ED (meaning if you decide to transfer you HAVE to go there). it's ridiculously hard to get in this way. read through some of last year's transfer threads. it seems like even people with tippy top grades after first semester were either deferred or rejected.
i would suggest that you just wait until after your full year's grades are in, though, unless you're trying to use the acceptance mainly as leverage for a scholarship. then it's helpful if you can have that in hand early.

Re: Spring Transfers
Hi all, sorry for the delay on clarifying my question - I'm a 3rd semester PT student and there are some schools who accept spring transfers for people in my situation because I'm right on the cusp of finishing a first year's worth of credits. Was just wondering if anyone knew anything about this type of situation. Thanks!

Re: Spring Transfers
American and Santa Clara permit spring transfers. Both are due Nov. 1. Santa Clara's on-campus credit requirement is 56, which is difficult to do to graduate in May, but doable. American only requires 43 credits on-campus.

Re: Spring Transfers
I applied to GW, American and GULC,
and my application for GULC and American have been completed since Oct. 27th.
Anyone hear anything back?
my friends applied to Florida state, and he got accepted a week after applying, and his grades were not that great.

Re: Spring Transfers
Does anyone have an idea on when GULC/GW decisions go out? I spoke to the admissions offices awhile back and I think they said early-mid December. Anyone have updated information?

Re: Spring Transfers
Now, does your say "application complete" or just "application received"? If it says complete, how long did it take to go complete?atashakor wrote:yes, i got a GW status the day after i applied.
Thanks!

Re: Spring Transfers
Has anyone received any news (acceptance or denial), regarding transferring to GW Law or GULC, for Spring 2012?
