job prospects at current school vs. transfer school
I am curious as to what people did in making this analysis when deciding whether or not to transfer. I mean if you are 10% at your current school it seems like you would be able to get interviews from almost every firm that hires at your school. Now if you transfer honestly I think it is just hard to predict how well you are going to do in this economy. Do people who transfer basically figure well job prospects will probably be a little better if they transfer so they might as well transfer?

I think it's hard to predict how well one will do ITE, period. Some good students at T14 schools got no-offered and some top students at TTTs got offers from good firms.
At my old TTT school, 2-3 firms did OCI and 11 did resume collects. At my new school, ~150 firms come to OCI and probably an even greater number do resume collects. Obviously a substantial difference -- more substantial than I anticipated. Even given the fact that there are a large number of OCI employers that will overlook me because my transfer from a TTT, I still have a lot more firms that are willing to, hopefully, give me a shot.
It's all a gamble.

This is basically what I thought, that people are making their best educated guess that job prospects will be better if they transfer. I guess that is all a transfer student can do.pandacot wrote:I think it's hard to predict how well one will do ITE, period. Just to give an update: OCI has been extremely good. 6 callbacks so far. Most from firms that I wouldn't have had a shot at interviewing with had I stayed at my old school. Certainly seeming worth the transfer at this point. We'll see if I actually get a summer offer.
