Working, learning a new language, and working out.
It'll be an amazing summer, so I'm enjoying it.

Working very hard until the middle of July, then moving to my new home, reading and visiting some west coast family. Nothing amazing, but i cannot wait to move and just chill for a month before school starts.
Of course, I have been out of school for a year+ but whatever, I am going to cherish the little bit of free time I have left

Shit I hope it's not a necessity! Being partially blind means you can't follow things in flight. Ball sports didn't serve me well, therefore I was a gymnast.NU_Jet55 wrote:future networking tools? As for this summer, I am determined to beat all of the main and sidequests in Elder Scrolls Oblivion and Assasins Creed one and two. I might throw some mass effect in there. Plus reading getting to maybe (already started so I might as well finish)

Should I be doing anything to prep? I don't want to be a gunner, but don't want to be unprepared.

The question for these 1Ls should be: How are you preparing for a life with a penurious future?

As I rising 2L whose just finished enduring 1L year, I would advise anyone not to do any studying the summer before 1L year. Once law school begins, you will be constantly working. Even during breaks, there's always something you're supposed to do (write on competitions for journals, internships, etc). You won't get many opportunities to have a summer where you'll do absolutely nothing, so enjoy it whole you can. Also, studying before 1L year doesn't do a whole lot of good IMO. You're not taking a class by the author of whatever supplement you're reading, you're taking a class from the particular professor you're assigned to. Until you know what his/her expectations are and how he/she wants you to learn the material, you would be wasting your time. If anything, studying now will only increase the chance that you'll burn out before the end of the semester, which is never a good thing.HazelEyes wrote:Should I be doing anything to prep? From my own experience, I did nothing my 1L summer and still did pretty well (top 15% at a T25 school). So in short, just have fun and enjoy the summer. You'll be glad you did later on.

This is exactly the right attitude! Don't squander your last summer without dealing with law school anxiety and the dire legal market. At least for right now you can live in blissful ignorance.

Working full time. Drinking a lot. And watching all of the imdb top 250 movies of all time. I should be more than prepared for law school by the end of this routine.

Look at the poll. That will tell you what people think is best to do before law school.HazelEyes wrote:Should I be doing anything to prep?
CW is to prep a bit if it makes you feel better, but it's by no means necessary.

Re: Calling TLS Class of 2013! How are you preparing for 1L?
I'm trying to lose a little weight and up my physical stamina over the next couple of months. I will probably spend some time working on my typing, since I'm pretty much a 2-finger typist, and I'll need to up my speed/accuracy if my notes are going to be useful. Other than that, I'll be spending the summer relaxing and spending time with family and friends, since I don't expact to see much of them once classes start.
