Washington and Lee Class of 2013
I didn't see one of these so I figured I'd make one. I'm not definite yet but I'm pretty sure I'll be there in August! Anyone else?

I'll be traveling from Texas as well! My friend went to W&L undergrad. The closest airport is Roanoke, but Charlottesville is almost just as close. They are about an hour drive from Lexington. I think it was in the acceptance letter that I read the ASW includes lodging. Then I saw the $300 travel credit on their website. But it says "up to" $300 so I am curious how that actually works!

Thanks for the info! I need to look at my letter again and see what it says. I was looking at flights today and saw flights to Richmond, but didn't see Charlottesville pop up. I'll keep checking around.

Just saw this on the website...
Attend an Open House. Our Admitted Student Open Houses are scheduled for March 19-20 and April 2-3. More specific details about our two Open Houses are forthcoming. We provide lodging and subsidize up to $300 in travel expenses for all Open House attendees.
That's awesome!

It also says on the admitted students website that they provide lodging for the admitted students weekends. I think i'm going to have to go to the 2nd one (April 2-3..if those are the actual dates). Really excited!
edit: haha you beat me to it!

When do we find out about if we got a scholarship from W&L?

The first round of scholarships is suppose to go out in Mid January, so anytime now. The only thing is that i dont know if they give out scholarship in the same order that they give out acceptances, if they do, the first batch of acceptances went out in Mid Dec, so I guess they will be the first ones to know.

I am also wondering about scholarships. I wish they would send it out with your acceptance letter! Do you think they send out an offer of scholarship via regular mail? I guess they continue to give scholarships throughout the summer because there will probably be quite a few people who are offered $$$ but end up not attending W&L. I assume they would distribute those funds down the list...

I'm very much interested in heading out to ASW especially with the free lodging and stipend. Anyone know if we're allowed to bring a guest? I'm sure all you nice TLS folks would be great company but it'd be nice if I could bring a friend along

I haven't made a decision as of yet whether I'm attending or not, but was accepted in December. I went to visit the school in October and loved it. I'm probably going to check it out again with the fam in February and then head down (I'm in NYC) for the ASW.

Another Texas resident making the trip. I am actually making a full round and heading to Richmond, W&L, and GMU all in one week.
Fly into Roanoke (didn't check spelling) because from what I have heard it is the only airport to provide transportation to Lexington.
Glad to hear about the $300.
Plan your flights at side-step.com Its great.

Probably going to do the March weekend. Going in April would only give three days to make a decision before the deposit deadline.

I would also like to go down there (I'm from NY)...
When they say they will provide lodging and up to $300 in travel expenses, does that mean that they will pay for our hotel stay AS WELL AS our travel (airplane, bus, etc.)?
Or do they mean to include both in the credit? Because that is a pretty big difference and their wording makes it sound very vague...

Re: Washington and Lee Class of 2013
From a purely logical viewpoint, I would say it includes both. They will provide lodging for us (likely at the dorms or somewhere very near campus) and they will also pay up to $300 in travel arrangements. They specifically say and. They don't say including, or, etc.cherryalamode wrote:I would also like to go down there (I'm from NY)...

Re: Washington and Lee Class of 2013
I visited the school in the last couple of weeks because I will be unable to attend ASW. It was everything I hoped it would be. Not only was everyone I spoke with at the law school extremely friendly and helpful but everyone I met in town was as well. It was a great experience and I could definitely see myself attending.
Go visit - you'll be glad you did.
Also, scholarship info should be coming out in the next week.

my file went complete yesterday morning, and now decision mailed is my status today . . . What can this mean?

I suggest heading over to the "Law School Acceptances, Denials, and Wait lists" thread. There are a lot of similar questions there.adh07d wrote:my file went complete yesterday morning, and now decision mailed is my status today . . . What can this mean?

Do any of you know what's the best way to get to W&L? I'm heading there from NYC, and I couldnt find any direct bus there, and a flight will be a pain in the ass. Anyone driving there from NYC?

I also visited the school around a week ago. I absolutely loved it. I posted about this in the W&L waiting thread but I figured I'd post it here as well. If anyone wants to know specific things I liked/felt about the school, feel free to PM me!
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
