Following Up Callback With an Expiring Offer

Post by Anonymous User » Mon Aug 20, 2018 12:01 pm

Looking for some advice. I fell in love with a firm that I interviewed at a week ago, and haven't heard back from yet. As of now, I have two other offers-- one which is in the same city as the firm I love. The offer I have in the same city is set to expire in the next two weeks. I was wondering if it is appropriate to reach out to my top firm and inform them of the pending offer to see if I can get a time line. I feel bad holding on to an offer that I probably won't accept, but I don't want to make a firm decision until I hear from my top firm. Any thoughts/suggestions on how to best approach this? Thank you!

Sounds a bit premature to call and request an update when there is still two full weeks left of your other offer, but I understand/appreciate you trying to expedite the process and open a spot for someone else.

When I did OCI, I followed up with CBs by just shooting the recruiter an email and asking if they had made a decision yet/am I still being considered. They will know you are looking for a timeline and let you know where they are in the process.
