Sex Offender Disclosure
Is there any way around disclosing sex offender status to a law firm? I've done a few searches on my own and it's not showing up. Maybe it won't in their records?

You're a sex offender but your state doesn't have a searchable registry?

They will probably do a background check on you, which includes your criminal record, so don't lie about it.Anonymous User wrote:Is there any way around disclosing sex offender status to a law firm? I've done a few searches on my own and it's not showing up. Maybe it won't in their records?

Oh just animals? Why didn't you say so? I think I remember the C&F section on apps having a clause that said that animal-related offenses don't count...Anonymous User wrote:It was for sexual activity with animals and isn't registered in my state online.rad lulz wrote:You're a sex offender but your state doesn't have a searchable registry?
If this isn't an anon-troll, you certainly would have to disclose something that will absolutely be brought up and considered when it comes to passing the bar.

Don't lie about it to em and disclose when asked (they may do a bg check) but I wouldn't think you have a continuing duty to disclose unless for some reason that's the law in your stateAnonymous User wrote:It was for sexual activity with animals and isn't registered in my state online.rad lulz wrote:You're a sex offender but your state doesn't have a searchable registry?
In return for the advice, will you tell the story?

I keep giggling in class imagining op as bearsgrl having to explain why she can't sit down during the interview because of a run-in with ludo's horse cock

I can't imagine any circumstance under which the OP disclosing the specifics would allow anyone here to give better advice. Or maybe we have a number of people here who have similar backgrounds?dowu wrote:Anyway, OP, can you detail what happened? It might help us to give you better info.

Awesome anon use, anon.
OP, if you don't disclose they'll probably figure it out-maybe after you're hired, but if you do disclose you'll never get hired in the first place. Soooo unless they ask, I guess your best bet is to keep it on the DL and hope they never think to check.

This is OP. Not a troll. It wasn't what anyone is probably thinking. It was a prank during my freshman year of college in my fraternity. I was forced to do things to an animal and someone called the police and of course I was the only one will to say that it was part of the initiation process and that I didn't choose to do it on my own. Worst day of my life.
