DHS Honors 2013
DHS Honors deadline was Monday.
Anyone know how many applications they get, how many people they interview, or how many positions they fill each year? Their website doesn't provide this detailed information but maybe someone knows...
--LinkRemoved--
Has anyone heard back about an interview yet? (I doubt it)

Yeah, I haven't heard anything, either - but then, I sent in my application Sunday night, so I'm not surprised.

They're calling on a federal holiday? That's dedication... guess I can cross that one off my list.Anonymous User wrote:Got a call today to get back to them to schedule a phone interview.

I don't know how they divvied up the list. It's possible that this was one person who decided to call today, rather than it being widespread.Anonymous User wrote:They're calling on a federal holiday? Since the deadline to send in one's materials for vets preference is October 16, I highly doubt they have made all their calls yet.Anonymous User wrote:I don't know how they divvied up the list. An email:
"Thank you for recent application to the DHS General Counsel’s Summer Law Intern Program. Your application, cover letter, resume, law school transcript and list of three references have been received and the purpose of this email is to inform you that this intern program will fall under Executive Order 13562, Recruiting and Hiring Students and Recent Graduates (Pathways Programs), as such; this intern program will apply veteran’s preference criteria.
VETERANS' PREFERENCE DOCUMENTATION If you are claiming veterans' preference, you must submit a copy of your Certificate of Release or Discharge From Active Duty, DD-214 (Member 4 copy), or other official documentation from a branch of the Armed Forces or the Department of Veterans Affairs showing dates of service and type of discharge to Alexandra.edwards@hq.dhs.gov, no later than 11:59:59 pm October 15, 2012."

That's for the Intern Program, not the Honors Program (which is what this thread is titled)! The confirmation e-mail for the Honors Program had no such deadline.Anonymous User wrote:An email:

Little afraid of outing myself (if posting to TLS didn't already do that). But, generally, T30, top 10%, LR, internships/ECs related to DHS' mission.Anonymous User wrote:stats?Anonymous User wrote:Got a call today to get back to them to schedule a phone interview.

Ha, I got a call from DC today, too, and had the same reaction! (and no, it wasn't DHS.)Anonymous User wrote:nice - congrats! Does anyone know anyone who has been hired through the DHS Honors Program? Have there been any other phone calls?

A friend of mine applied last year, and was selected for an interview. His stats weren't necessarily all that impressive: middle of his class at a T3 school, but he had experience in immigration law. DHS seems to be the most mysterious of all the honors programs as no one really talks much about it.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
