Yeah. I guess hearing that some people people hear have heard back Im a bit over anxious. I applied to places in DC, and I am sure they are backlogged.Puttanesca wrote: Are you saying this because you haven't heard back? I think a lot of people haven't heard back, especially in major markets. In the smaller market I applied to, I heard back from 50%, and in the larger market, haven't heard back from a single employer.

That's a very good point.r6_philly wrote:It's definitely not too many because once you get an offer you can canceled the rest. On the other hand, until you get an offer, you haven't applied to enough.AreJay711 wrote:So, Im starting to think I applied to too many judges. I ran the gamut in my home district and have 5 inteviews set up and a few that mailed me back saying they make their decisions in Feb - April.
Does anyone know about senior judges? My first interview is with a senior judge. It seems kind of cool because it seems like they give him interesting cases since all of his cases are published but idk. That makes me think he is doing more than supervising discovery and watching juries.

Re: The Official 1L Summer Employment Thread - 2012 Edition
Just remember guys that it is the grades that matter most. A good summer gig won't do me justice if I don't have the grades to back it up. I am kind of actually regretting that I took a few days off to do my apps, esp. after my performance on my final today. But applying early really does seem to be helping...ilovesf wrote:I have a feeling this thread will lead me to intense jealously and decreased feelings of self worth.Bildungsroman wrote:I'm jelly, I haven't heard back from either of the USAO offices I applied to yet.adonai wrote:Interview with the USAO. One grade request and a non-rejection rejection. Meaning: a letter that said they are interested in me so if hear from them in the next 2 weeks that means they are hiring but if not then they aren't? Is this common? The pessimist in me just thinks it's a ding.
ETA: applied to firms in 3 secondary markets, ties to all.

I'm in the same position, and each time I read this board I get more anxious/annoyed. Applied to 23 firms, all in my secondary home market. T14, worked for a year at one of the V100's in the market.

Yay, finally got an interview with a firm! Applied December 2. Secondary market in the western United States (not West Coast). Doesn't pay primary market rates but pays market rate for the market it's in. School range is MVP. Non-URM. Strong ties to the city.

So far, I have two phone interviews for different regional branches of a PI group and an "invite" to schedule an appointment with my home area USAO.

Agreed. I'd be way more panicked about the job hunt if my only choices were finding a paying gig or living like a poor on my meager savings.Haymarket wrote:Thank God for law school 1L summer funding.

I'm just shocked by the fact he's racked up 7 angry responses. This has to be a new TLS record.
