i've heard from many a 1L that new is the way to go. you dont want to deal with other people's highlighting, etc.JD2215 wrote:Anyone have an opinion on this choice?
however, if you buy used, there is always the chance that your book will be like the one in HP6 and you'll get an A. just sayin.

Re: Used v. New books
I buy new, I'm pretty neurotic about having other people's writing in my books.
A lot of people buy used as early as possible because sometimes you can find the "pristine" used book at the school bookstore and its like getting a new book for cheap I think thats too much effort and just but mine from B&N online with the membership discount (20% off).

Re: Used v. New books
I'm a big fan of used books. For the coming semester, if I bought new through the bookstore it would be $760. If I bought what I could from B&N with a 20% member discount (because some of the books aren't available) I would still be spending around $680. If I get what I can used online, the total is under $400. I generally use sites like textbooksx.com marketplace and look for sellers that have high ratings (at least 3/5) and list their books in good/excellent condition.
