Temple Law Class of 2012
I've narrowed it down to Temple and Villanova. Just wondering if anyone has decided on Temple yet?

Glad to add to this list! Temple it is for me...save any last minute offers that would beat in-state tuition and living in Philly...so not likely.
Welcome to all those who will join in!

Hey Scared, I don't know where you are looking to live, but if I were in your situation I would def. look around Manayunk, Bella Vista, and Northern Liberties. Much more affordable than center city. Rittenhouse and Society Hill are probably the rpiciest areas if that helps at all.

i live in the old city/no libs area now and will be looking to relocate to center city/grad hospital area. i'll either be trying to live with other students or get a studio.

Thanks! I've been looking around and found a really nice building in Rittenhouse. It's about $1400 for a 2bdrm and I don't mind spending $700/$800 a month. I think I'm better off getting a roommate.

Has anyone emailed the school about being considered for scholarship money? I emailed them over a week ago and didn't even get an email acknowledging they received my request! UGH! I've been offered money everywhere but Villanova and Temple.
Edit: Has anyone successfully negotiated scholarships from Temple?

For those of you who have sent in your deposits already--what made you choose Temple? I'm stuck between two schools right now and Temple's price is very appealing to me (even though I'm out of state). Any other reasons? I didn't get to attend the ASD!

i'm also stuck between two schools right now... though i am strongly leaning towards temple because of the cost/benefits. though the other school i'm considering is ranked much higher, the market isnt in such an ideal location. philadelphia is an awesome city, somewhere i would consider living after school, and the temple alumni network and placement stats are very strong here.

Has anyone thought about housing yet? I'm thinking about signing up on the roommate list.

Re: Temple Law Class of 2012
I have a room available for rent in a great neighborhood in the University City area. I live in a brand new 2 bed/2 bath condo with lots of great amenities and it is also convenient to public transportation. I'm asking $1100 (which includes all utilities) a month for the larger bedroom and bathroom, although this price could be negotiable. Also, the bedroom can come fully furnished. I realize this price may be a little high for most students, but it is a safe, secure building and I would live to live with a fellow law student so that we can travel back and forth from school together. If any of you are interested, please let me know and I can provide more details as well as some pictures.
I will also place a posting for the room through Temple sometime this week.

I'm sending in my deposit shortly. The price and the atmosphere made me choose Temple. It's a highly respected school in this area.

Well, I would say the clinical programs are huge just because you can not beat working in the DA's office or US Attorneys office. The alumni base is a big plus. And I think that there is a reason its called Vanillanove if thats wat you are comparing it to. I grew up in Philadelphia and love the different types of people./am a little intimidated by the idea of a crucifix in every classroom(not catholic). I think its just the broad education, and the tuition costs since I am in state.scaredstiff165 wrote:For those of you who have sent in your deposits already--what made you choose Temple? Re: Temple Law Class of 2012
sent in my deposit yesterday. Glad to join the list!!
I am moving to Philly from London in July. I have no plan for a car and will try to find a place (studio/shared 2br apt) in a neighborhood around fairmount/art museum/center city along the broad street line (no need to change line). New postings on craiglist come out everyday and hopefully it is OK if I start hunting in July? Or do you think I should get started now and ask my friends in Philly to see the places and at least secure a spot?
also, anyone has any idea about school accommodation? We only eligible for graduate housing?--too bad, very lmited option (well not necessarily bad. I have been warned about living on campus--a friend of mine, who went to Temple for LLM and stayed on campus for the first month after her arrival, got robbed twice in that single month...)

Also--know where you're living yet? I don't know too much about Philly so any suggestions would be appreciated! I'm also considering getting a roommate. Anyone know if the Temple roommate list is a good option?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
