Schools won’t go gre/lsat optional in 2025?

Post by lawschoolsplit2023 » Wed Mar 06, 2024 11:25 am

Past couple years, there’s been talk of how the lsat will no longer be required in 2025, for those applying 2025 cycle. Then, it appears in 2023 the elimination of the lsat didnt come to fruition. Is it true even in 2025 schools will still require it?

I ask, because I’ll be completely ready to take the lsat and apply 2025 cycle, but if 2024 is the last cycle requiring lsat then looks like I have to apply this fall when not completely ready because my app depends on the great lsat to mitigate sub 3.0 gpa, so can someone tell me it’s not going to be eliminated in 2025?

It's not going to be eliminated in 2025. It's already "optional" in the sense that you can take the GRE instead.

Thanks so much for the reply. Really appreciate it. Does that mean Fall 2025 schools still will require either a GRE/LSAT and won’t just be no admissions exam required?

Either (1) schools will still require either a GRE/LSAT in the fall of 2025; or (2) they won't technically require it but submitting a GRE/LSAT score will be optional and the vast majority of people who get in will be people who submitted scores (kinda like what happened when undergrad institutions went SAT/ACT optional during COVID). In either event, having a high LSAT score will help you.
