What to do with LSAC account now that I’ve decided to take a gap year Forum

I’ve ~officially~ decided to take a gap year (or two) between undergrad and law school. I’ve already uploaded LORs, taken the LSAT, and initiated some applications. What do I need to do to keep my account active? Do I need to re-purchase CRS or CAS again in the future? How do I go about getting fee waivers again once the time comes?

Your CRS is good for 5 Years like your LSAT and your LSAC account will still be there a year from now. Update your year of matriculation so that schools send you automatic fee waivers next cycle. You’ll have to resolicit some most likely, but some schools (Duke, for instance) will be pretty cool with sending you a fee waiver if they’ve given you one before.

The majority (of the T14) at least, will send them out within the first couple weeks of their apps opening. Obviously, YHS only give need-based ones and you have to solicit a waiver from Berkeley. Columbia this cycle didn’t send a lot (any?) until like November. So you might have to pay for a few apps, but if your LSAT is good, you’ll get the majority in time to apply Sept/October.
