Expect your financial aid stuff around July.....I know, it sucks, but that's just the way it is.

What kind of information? If you're looking for the personalized stuff, then most of it will come in July. If you're looking for general budget stuff, then you can look most of that up on the internet.

Your Stafford Loans will average about $8,500 subsidized and the rest unsubsidized for the entire year. I think the entire loan package totals to about $65,000 if memory seves.

Hey NU class of 2011. I decided not to join you, but I wanted to wish everyone a great 3 years in Chicago!

Thanks guy! Best of luck at NYU.

BDS, I guess I'm just wondering about scholarships and loans. I know they've sent most people a package detailing the financial aid they'll receive; I'd like that information before I put down my deposit.

They took so long deciding on my application that I doubt there are any scholarships left at this point, but I'd still like the chance to negotiate!

So I didn't get to go to DANL (I was in Berkeley, deciding I didn't want to go to school there), and I was wondering if during orientation week there would be some sort of fair with student organizations etc.

I withdrew from most of my other schools yesterday--what a strange feeling--and I'm taking my deposit down to NU tomorrow. It feels very odd to actually be done with this whole horrible process! Hopefully the actually experience of law school is less painful than the experience of applying...

There is definitely a student activities fair at Orientation and you will definitely be exposed to all the different, random student groups we have to offer. :)

Don't sweat it, it's been handled by a member of our class. No more cookies and plenty of diet coke. :)

Just dropped off my deposit today. The air around the law school is pretty tense--everyone's studying for exams. Good luck on your finals, 1Ls!

Thanks! For some reason this semester is more stressful than last was. In any event, I'm having my study group over for pot roast and twice-baked potatoes (it's about the only thing i could think of to make property more palatable ;) ). Studying may as well be delicious.

It's all good, Sarah, we'll discriminate against those people leaving Chi-town by having another pot-roast/luck. In fact, I think this summer may call for a Blade I-Trinity marathon, complete with Bloody Mary's and jokes about tax evasion (viewed as a metaphor, vampires = bloodsuckers = IRS.... Whistler = Accountant = Fighting IRS, but ultimately gets his ass kicked in every fucking movie... Blade = Snipes = ???... I think a drunken debate is in order, so that we can really get the most out of these flicks).

So is this a tax-free viewing? I don't want to have to pay the pot every time I get my nerd on at the expense of Mr. Snipes.

Note to self: Only join study groups with people who can cook.

Howdy.

Did anyone get details about loans? Am I supposed to be filling out applications?

If I remember the process correctly, you apply for financial aid (which I assume you've done), you get your award with any grants and federal loans, then they will send you information on possible lenders with their interest rates so that you can apply for a grad PLUS loan for everything else.

Once you pick a lender you have to fill out an application for that lender (mine was online, I don't know about the others). You'll then find out if they accepted your application, and then you pretty much just wait for disbursement.

They sent all the necessary paperwork as the process progressed, but I don't exactly remember what the time frame was - it might have been as late as July before I did the paperwork for the PLUS loans and found out that I was approved.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
