Seeing as this is my first post, I can't offer up a TLS-curriculum-vitae of undeniable awesomeness like the entourage of the current NU students on this site. But I'd say their awesomeness bodes mighty well for all of us up-and-comers!

I'm not sure I'm awesome, but you'll just have to deal with it typo.
Also, I've lived in Chicago for 10 years if anyone has questions about moving here etc.

I'm detecting a general trend of humility. not something I expected of future lawyers.

Wait a couple years. Law school seems to have a magical effort on people's ego's. And not in a good way. Of course it won't happen to me.typodragon wrote:I'm detecting a general trend of humility. not something I expected of future lawyers.

Hi guys!
So, when I visited everyone was telling me I should live by myself because I don't want to risk having a shitty roommate and potentially hurting my 1L performance, but...one bedroom apartments in the Streeterville area are really expensive. What are you all considering for housing?

not sure. i'll have a female tagging along with me, so she'll be working. don't know if that means I'll need a car. was planning on living close to campus. the money difference doesn't seem like much compared to the immense annoyance of having to commute to class for 3 years.iwanttogotolawschool wrote:What are you all considering for housing?

I already live in Old Town and will probably be staying here, but if I were moving from out of town (sans husband), I'd probably get a studio or one-bedroom within walking distance of the school. The convenience would be very much worth it. Plus the area around the law school has a lot of amenities--there's a grocery store, a drug store, Starbucks, Navy Pier in case you need a Ferris wheel ride between classes--so I'd assume a car wouldn't really be necessary. Parking in Streeterville is a major bitch.iwanttogotolawschool wrote:Hi guys!

That's annoying. I was hoping the opposite would happen - i.e., the arrogant young punks I met at various ASWs would get their asses kicked by actual law classes enough to realize that they were not actually God's gift to academia.Fourttier wrote:Law school seems to have a magical effort on people's ego's. Yeah, I keep forgetting to exclude NU from my blanket "ASW kids incoming law students grrr" posts.Corsair wrote: That doesn't happen until after first semester grades (though honestly at NU I haven't seen much changed in people. Could be that whole "maturity" thing).
