does anyone know if orientation is for the whole week of august 11 - august 15?? a friend of mine is going to be a 2L at loyola and he said his orientation was only 2 days, but lls just gives you dates for a whole week because they arent sure which days specifically in terms of scheduling? i'm hoping thats true an extra couple days off would be lovely!

That would be awesome. More time to check out the city and have fun with LLS-ers before school starts!

Hey hey just got my fin. aid. award letter from LLS through the email, so check you inboxes and the link below.
I also called about increasing the amount of the loan to purchase a laptop. They said that you have to bring in a receipt after school starts (w/ a computer purchase during the school period) and they'll increase that. That seems manageable to cover the expense up front at first because they just give us so much money for personal and traveling expenses if you take out the max amount.Financial aid for 2008-2009 has been awarded. Please log in again using the following link and Accept, Reduce, or Decline the awards given. https://technology.lls.edu/finaid

Re: Loyola Law School (L.A.) - Class of 2011
Guess no one better trying to transfer at the end of their 1st year. Seriously what is this bitchassness?:
"Also, students who apply to transfer from Loyola Law School, as evidenced by their request to have their Loyola transcript forwarded to another law school, or their request for a letter of good standing or faculty letters of recommendation for another law school, will be deemed to be ineligible to participate in Phase I of OCI."
*I'm not saying I'm planning on transferring or anything. I just saw that and thought it was pretty messed up.

That sucks. Better ask for those things after OCI's if you do transfer!

Shhh just will have to try to transfer without them knowing...somehow...though I'm sure people who score well will still try. I guess they want to strongly discourage transfers.
On the side note where is my financial aid or any info packets for the coming fall...

i haven't gotten my financial aid stuff yet either...but everything i've gotten from loyola so far has been delayed so hopefully its on its way.
in terms of transferring and not participating in OCI...the way i see it is if you've placed in like the top 10% you'll probably have a good shot at transferring to some decent schools, and assuming you don't get into your transfers you're still in the top 10 and probably wont have too hard a time securing a job on your own. yes, it wont be as accessible without OCI..but i cant imagine it would be that difficult to stand out when you've secured the top seats in your class. but that's just my ramble

That transfer info sucks...But I Lawgirl is right, if you're in the top 10% you should be fine without OCI and if you're not in the top 10% you prolly shouldn't be trying to transfer(UP I assume) anyways.
Does anyone have any specifics about orientation for the day program? I know its mandatory and it begins the 11th. But did anyone ever figure out how many days it is? and or how long it is per day? Trying to get in one last VEGAS trip before I give up my life...

I just called the financial aid office and asked when we should expect to hear from our lenders--this, I believe, being the next step after our accepting the aid offer via email. The rep said that we shouldn't expect to hear anything for at least the next week or two, and also mentioned that our loans won't be disbursed until the first week of class, which is AFTER orientation week.

Yep that sounds right. It's apparently illegal for any school to release loan money before school starts, which totally sucks for the obvious reasons. I'm just hoping all the registration material comes before I pack up and go to L.A.!

Link to Fall 1L class schedules: http://reg.lls.edu/2008fall/documents/2 ... lasses.pdf
Someone posted it on the online networking site, thought I'd put it up here too.
Edit: the document has been updated, so there is no longer a time conflict.

Hey guys, the schedule says fall registration begins on July 14th, but I haven't received anything regarding signing up for classes, or an email account or anything. Do we have a separate "registration"?
Also anyone get the email asking for a photo submission? I sent it to the email but it didn't seem to work, I got the mailer daemon thing.

I assume you are referring to this document: http://reg.lls.edu/2008fall/documents/2 ... ration.pdfbowandarrow20 wrote:Hey guys, the schedule says fall registration begins on July 14th, but I haven't received anything regarding signing up for classes, or an email account or anything. It looks like the 14th is the open date for only evening students in their 3rd, 4th or 5th year. It doesn't mention 1Ls in that document at all. I think the classes we take as 1Ls are based on our section, so I figure that our first year classes will be assigned for us; at least the first semester, anyway. I could be mistaken though, so if someone knows for sure feel free to correct me.

Throwing a poll up because I know there's been a lot of talk about having a TLS specific party (invite your friends of course but really only market it on here for us). Pick an option (event & date) and I'll try to make something happen!
Also, if you have other ideas, feel free to throw them down!

If financial aid is dispersed once classes begin, when do we make our tuition payment?
Edit: I found the information out (all by myself! jkjk). Incase anyone else is interested: http://intranet.lls.edu/studentaccounts ... dures.html
(We make the tuition payment the Friday of the first week of classes).

I believe that's automatically taken out of our loan money and the check (or direct deposit) that we get back is the money that we asked for minus all the LLS charges.

I sent them an email and I got a response back.
Basically just drop the "s" off of photos and keep everything else. I just sent it in and it looks like the email went through. I was going to post the email address, but figured that would probably be a bad idea.

Yup I just did the same, it's the same address minus the s and I didn't get a mailer-daemon this time.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
