Re: Notre Dame Class of 2011
I plan on staying for 12 months. I'm spending about 3k to move my stuff cross-country, and I don't want to have to worry about moving again after spring semester. I've heard that a few students that get 1L summer jobs in Chicago commute from their homes in South Bend via the train at the airport.
If you're lucky to land a SA position, it'll be less of a hassle to pay your SB rent while you're away. Your options also increase if you can live with friends or family wherever you end up summering.

3 for 3.
Coincidence or error?
Also, does anyone know anyway I can find the booklist for these classes?

Yeah, you have to get the class numbers from the expanded class schedule.
60105
60302
60308
Then you can go to the bookstore website and enter these class numbers and section numbers.

Bellia
Smith
Tidmarsh
which I think is section 2. I know that the Bellia / Someone is a bigger class since there are only two. I wish they'd load the Tu/Th classes since those have so many different times.

I'm in this group, too. I got a good vibe from Tidmarsh from what I remember of his Admitted Students Day faculty panel appearance. The first day of school just feels a whole lot closer now.jaliebs wrote:I'medgarderby wrote:3 for 3.

The best section.
How many hours do we take 1st year? For some reason I always thought 15/16... but that's only 1 more TR class, so I doubt it now.. We still need torts and LR&W

Re: Notre Dame Class of 2011
legal research is 1 credit and legal writing is 2 so first semester adds up to 15
then con law, property, and torts for second semester plus legal writing @ 2 and ethics @ 1 = 15 as well

Re: Notre Dame Class of 2011
Although this is a year away from actually meaning anything to us, I couldn't help but open up this can of worms. It sounds like ND has a bidding process for interviews. Does anyone know whether it is entirely a bidding process or if employers largely determine their own students to interview and only a small % get an interview based on lottery.
Secondly, even if schools do have a completely lottery based system, grades are still the end game right? If you get lucky with a bid for a law firm, but don't meet their expectations for grades, for example, it doesn't seem to matter how much you impress them in the interview, you are still up a creek without a paddle. Any ideas?

As far as I know, ND does not allow pre-screening by employers and it is a lottery system for interviews. I'm pretty sure that the students bid for firms to interview with. Additionally, ND doesn't rank the class, so while your grades are important there will be no way for one to articulate how they stack up against their peers. Of course, the employers know where your grades put you since they have done so many interviews. Obviously, if you show up to an interview with all C's you're going to be at a disadvantage and all A's will be advantageous.taz wrote:Although this is a year away from actually meaning anything to us, I couldn't help but open up this can of worms. Re: Notre Dame Class of 2011
Hey everyone!---I was just wondering if anyone was able to help me move in on the afternoon of August 15th (around 3-4ish?) My mom & I are going to have a little trouble unloading a Uhaul by ourselves (but I promise it's not that much stuff!!) I'd be willing to compensate you for your time too. Message me if you'd be interested. Thanks!

Beth, I actually have to move in at the same time, which means I'm not going to be able to help. However, it raises the question, where are you living? Sounds like there's a chance we're living in the same complex.

Beth, I should be able to help you. I'll be moved in by the 10th so I'm free for those next couple weeks.
