Even after reading everyone else's decision posts, it's still hard to turn down an acceptance at Harvard off the wait list. Please indulge me and just remind me that I'm doing the right thing by sticking with a Dillard at UVA over probably nothing at Harvard.

COA:
UVA - ~$50,000 for living expenses/books/etc
Harvard - probably about $300,000 because I'm expecting no need-based aid (and I wouldn't get a financial aid package until after I committed)

How I'm paying for law school:
Loans, loans, loans

General career goals (emphasis on general):
Public interest/government. No interest in big law. I've started to really look at various DOJ positions and am also looking at DA jobs, but I also haven't completely let go of public defender ideas and I'm open to anything else that might pop up. Like for most others, there are unicorn jobs that sound really appealing, but they're not a guarantee even with Harvard.

I think I'd like to be in DC, but I'm also open to other cities.

GPA: 3.85
LSAT: 171 (taken once, clearly not taking again because I'm going somewhere in the fall)

I'm kidding. Bro, the answer is obvious. If it's not, look at the COA balance sheet from both schools from their financial aid portals. This is what you seriously will be borrowing to pay (with interest). That amount of 0s will make your eyes bleed.

If you go $300,000 in debt for Harvard you will regret it. Maybe not now, but soon, and for the rest of your life.

If it makes you feel better you can frame your acceptance letter and hang it next to your UVa diploma.
