Post by whatchootalkinbout » Tue Feb 09, 2010 1:24 pm

Does anyone know or have any data on how well W&L grads place in DC BigLaw?

Just curious. Thanks!

Looking at the old NLJ 250 statistics (CO 2005), about 18% went directly into NLJ 250 firms and another 15% did clerkships, most of which I assume will end up in biglaw as well. So in a good economy I would think that top-quartile to top-third is fine. Don't know specifically about DC. However, DC seems to be W&L's primary market, so I would also assume that the people that do get biglaw tend to gravitate toward DC.

I wouldn't assume most of the clerks will go into biglaw. That chart lumps all clerkships together. Only the federal clerks are likely to land in biglaw.

In this economy, I would assume top 10% is needed for DC biglaw from W&L.

W&L has about 9% go to federal clerkships, as per the class of 2007.
