3.13/172 veteran/nontraditional
Decided to retake and reapply after last cycle and bumped my lsat up closer to my practice average. Looking at UVA (where I was waitlisted last cycle with a 165 lsat), Georgetown, and wondering what other (if any) T14 schools I should be considering. Also weighing applying ED at UVA since they're my top choice and I hear they're veteran-friendly. Thanks!

Hi, you are better off than me, with a 2.4 UGPA including my abysmal years prior to the military I will be EDing to UVA. It is my top choice, ill be taking the November exam. AA male 8 year Navy Vet. When are you taking the test?

Apply to Northwestern for sure and probably worth it for you to apply to all the lower T14. Do you have GI Bill money left? If not, be careful about EDing.

I'm not taking the LSAT again, sticking with a 172. And I have my full GI Bill.

You're in a spot where EDing to UVA makes sense then. I'd still get applications out to other schools (agree with the above poster that every school from NYU through Georgetown makes sense, and I'd personally throw in Vandy and Texas to boot) because earlier is better, especially for splitters, and it'd be a shame to miss out on Northwestern or Michigan or whatever because you were waiting on UVA.nedwardian wrote:I'm not taking the LSAT again, sticking with a 172. With your stats, ED is probably not necessary to get into UVA. I'm a 3L vet there with a 169/sub-3.0. There are several of us with similar stats. I applied RD in early October and was admitted on Veterans Day.
I also got into Penn off w/l in June, though I knew a Navy pilot with a 172/2.7 who got into Penn RD. He went to the Vets reception they host every year.
If you're going to ED anywhere, maybe do NYU since they have a quick turn around. Apply early to UVA and write a compelling Why-UVA and you should be fine. If you run into any problems, contact the President of the Law Vets on the student orgs page.

Thanks everyone, really appreciate the advice. Think I'll be applying to most of the T14 below HYS.
