The fact that finances are a serious concern actually weighs heavily in favor of retaking the LSAT and applying next cycle. You are wasting that 4.0 on a 166 LSAT.

Here are your odds of admission and scholarship aid right now:

And here are your odds with a 170 LSAT, only a few points higher:

You're talking about a $70k scholly difference at Mich - assuming you even get in with a 166 LSAT (your odds are only 44%). A $100k scholly difference at Virginia. A 75% chance of no scholarship at NYU - and only a coin flip's chance at admission - if you apply with your 166 LSAT, versus an almost guaranteed admission and an almost 60% chance of getting $80k with a 170 LSAT.

Even at Chicago, you're talking a $30k difference - and keep in mind that this really means MORE THAN $30k, given interest and given that you'd need to repay that additional $30k out of post-tax money (meaning that $30k differential would actually end up costing you more like $50k).
