Hey all,
Does any anyone have any input on the early decision process at UT? I'm an Oklahoma resident and like the idea of locking in the Texas in-state tuition rate, but have heard that ED hampers your chances at any merit-based aid beyond the non-resident tuition waiver.
Numbers: 4.0 GPA, 164 LSAT (waiting on September retake score)
Other Factors: UT is my top choice, I want to work in Dallas or Houston, Masters degree, CPA, 4 years work experience.
$53,035 (resident tuition) vs. $35,715 (non-resident tuition) equates to a $17,230/year or $51,960 total "scholarship". Based on my current numbers (and the small sample size on Law School Numbers), $51,960 seems close to what could be possible for me under regular decision. Is in-state tuition something that could be negotiated as a regular decision applicant?

I don't like to post on TLS but I had to comment on this one.
I'd definitely ED if you're dead set on Texas. UT is super stingy with aid and the fact that you're out of state will hurt you a lot when it comes to scholarship negotiations (they have to take a certain percentage of their class from in state students).
However, it will probably not boost your chances of admission--there's no statistically significant effect on EDing for UT.
