3.53, 173 - $$ from GWU/GULC?
Hi all, just got back my LSAT scores and am wondering about potential scholarship money from Georgetown and GWU. Brief background: 3.53 GPA in Electrical Eng. from a Big Ten school, 173 LSAT (probably won’t retake). Since getting my BS I’ve had 5 years’ experience working in IP law, including one year as a patent examiner and three years of international work experience as a patent agent at an IP boutique. Have some foreign language skills and recent volunteer work but nothing else special in terms of softs. Not a URM.
I’m only seriously considering DC schools (but will still apply to some other East Coast ones for leverage). Does anyone have an idea of what I could reasonably expect in terms of merit-based scholarship from GWU and GULC? I’m hoping I’d get some from GWU but not sure about GULC (if I get in).

I have similar grade as you. But I'm a Chem Eng.

You will have a great admissions cycle. Though I don’t know why you want to lock yourself into gtown.

Yeah from the numbers I've seen it sounds like I'd have a good shot at a few in the T10. I'll still apply to these but in all likelihood will stay around DC for family reasons

UVA is close to DC by train or car. But if “family” means kids or spouse maybe that’s not close enough

You could probably get into Harvard. There aren't enough people scoring 173+ these days.

That would obviously be amazing, and I'd probably have to re-consider the DC thing. Is that actually a possibility with a sub-3.6 GPA? I have solid work experience but didn't think that'd be enough to make up for the GPA...Wild Card wrote:You could probably get into Harvard. There aren't enough people scoring 173+ these days.

I know a 3.5/173 who was waitlisted at Harvard a couple of years ago. She eventually ended at a CCN. She applied late in the cycle though. With that combination you should apply early in the cycle IMO to improve your chances

Got it, thanks for the input. Your UVA suggestion could work too as you're right in that it's not too far from DC. Will definitely apply there and make sure to get all my apps in early. No harm in applying to Harvard as a reach so I'll most likely do that as well

You should apply broadly across the t14 for scholarship purposes if the money matters. Get some bargaining chips and whatnot
