Your chances are not slim at HYS. You're just not getting those schools. You do have a pretty good shot at NYU-on-down, and you should get money at those schools.

Since you didn't actually give specifics on what your softs are, no one can tell you what kind of difference they might make. But the answer is generally that your softs aren't as strong as you think they are and won't make a difference.

Fuck that’s what I figured. In my position you wouldn’t even apply then?

It's an extra 300 to apply to Harvard, Columbia, and Chicago--or $200 to apply to Harvard and Columbia. I would find the money somehow and apply for sure. I do think Stanford and Yale are totally out of the picture, but you know the old saying about missing shots you don't take, etc
