Really Need Help 2.56gpa 177 LSAT

Post by TurboMiguel95 » Fri Aug 25, 2017 3:31 am

I had horrible early years in college with F's and W's all over my transcript. "Fortunately", my school has an adjusted credit option where students will horrible grades on their first two years can go through a gpa/transcript clean up process in order to be above the 2.5 gpa and graduate. I falled most of my classes and dropped many others and had to go through the adjusted credit option. And after that I still continued to do horrible for another semester. However I have changed my goals and habits and have been getting nearly all A's for my last 4 semesters. Under my school eyes I currently have a 3.3 gpa but I have been calculating my gpa according to the LSAC gpa/transcript system and have a 2.56 gpa. Makes me want to cry. I had been studying for almost a year for my LSAT and got a 177 but I was unaware that my real gpa is 2.56. Is it still possible I get accepted into a law school? Before I adjusted my gpa and had a 3.3 with a 177 I was dreaming of WUSTL with some money... I can't really take anymore classes to increase my gpa as I will be graduating with 2 majors and I'm almost on my 6th year. Do I have any realistic chance of getting into law school? If yes, what schools should I apply?
I'm Hispanic, first college generation if that makes any difference.
I have 1 year of experience working with and attorney

A school like WUSTL with money is definitely not out of the question, but you're going to have to apply broadly and apply early. You also may want to take some time off to work and distance yourself from the GPA a bit, but a sub-3.0 is always going to be difficult to overcome for top-tier schools.

I had the same lsat and almost the same GPA, also hispanic URM. Full ride at WUSTL, accepted to most of the lower T14, ended up at UVA with money. I had really good work experience and my undergrad is known for having the worst grade deflation around, so take my results with a grain of salt, but a top school is not out of the question with your numbers.

Check out this article. She seems to have a pulse on special case admissions.

That is an awesome LSAT score. Instead of getting emotional about the situation, look at it rationally and see what you can DO.

How is this in any way responsive to the OP?

OP made another post the day after this one and we were able to point out that he/she is in a good spot despite that gpa thanks to being an URM with a great lsat.

 OP: "Makes me want to cry."

Maybe my answer is not responsive because he or she was not actually crying, but only stated the wanting to.
